Interior Painting Gone Wrong!!!
LOL
Everything is still attach on the car. I figured I can tape around the little bit of this and that then use Kraft shipping paper for the large areas.
I sand down everything already. I have this lovely faded silver look. Quite cool concept if I wanted to do a "Death" theme.
So I used Dupi-color paint like you're suppose to. I started with the gearbox area. Paint is runny and there's some silver lines from the tape with my plastic auto guide has paint on it. Then, my driver's gauge ring is red with black spots (kind of neat if you like Dalmatians?" and also the driver's & passenger's handle "Boomerang" too!
So I'm thinking of stripping everything with paint thinner.
My question here is; will everything turn into faded black? Maybe someone in the Milwaukee/Chicagoland area wants to make some cash some day??? Or should I say "F**k it! Buy a dash interior kit with 100+ pieces that 3M tape it over???
It could be worst???

TAKE THE PIECES OFF FIRST. not really sand but use a not scratchable SOS pad that is a reddish color and lightly go over each plastic piece. Plastic scratched really easy. Then spray a light coat of the color you want, once it dries. use the sos pad again and spray another coat. paiting is a lot of patience. repeat this till your done.
OR do what i did and have a body shop paint the pieces for you! i paid around $150.00 for my waterfall and door pieces...BUT i took it all apart and took the pieces only to him. and he had to match my RS color. but different story.
GOOD LUCK......alos the dash kit probably won't cover the whole dash you will still have some gaps that you will see color in between....my CF kit does.

Mine turned out ok. Just need to take it out and do a nice job taping. Time consuming more than anything engine cover turned out nice also. If you use spray can and want trd red. Use duplicolor Milano Red, and Super red II and flipflop your coats. A couple examples here.

Okay, Maria!
I know for sure you know how to disassemble: center dash, steering wheel pieces. I'm not able to take Sunday night off like I thought.
If we have to, repaint everything black. We'll black it out. I'll stop sanding down everything out of frustration If its too ruined, I'll hunt down a tC at a junkyard and rip everything out.
By the way, I made this lovely choice at 5 AM last Friday on my way home from work and I didn't realize how tired I was.....
---------
Good news is, my other project. The one, I actually thought clearly on: "Repainting my stockies" is turning out good! Using the right paint, sanding correctly with the proper grid, taking my time, while reading directions. I'm only doing one wheel a week...

Directions stated "320" & I wet sand. Graphite, the wheel did get darker within a week. I still have to do another clear coat. I painted over the Scion logo on the center cap, no patience to tape around it.
I'm not planning on using these wheels year around, just for winter.
Plus, I wrote down how many coats I put on between each 10 minute period. I knew if I didn't, each wheel would of had different color shade.
