Default Tint Exemption in MI

I've been looking into getting my windows tinted. I know the law of MI states front windows can only have the first 4 inches done, unless you have a medical exemption. So, I went to my eye doctor today (he wasnt in) and asked about it. I told the recptionst that I have light sensitive eyes, and that even on cloudy days my eyes are bothered. It has gotten to the point that even sunglasses are not enough.

They just kinda laughed at me and told me that all i have to do is talk to him tomorrow, but he is more that likely going to say no (unless im an 80yr old lady that has trouble seeing.)

So, im just wondering if any of you have encountered this, and what the outcome was. Basically im going to get it done no matter what, because if i can prevent my eyes from being bothered, then im going to.

Thanks for any info,
T.J.

the better way to do it would be to say its a skin condition but let me know how the eye thing works out for you

Well I have very sensitive eyes to the color blue. If there is a car approaching me with hids i literally have to turn my head or all I will see is blue.
After taking photo classes and sitting in front of hella bright flashes my eyes have become very sensitive. I have not talked to my doctor yet... But he already knows that my eyes are sensitive to the color blue from the color studies he has me do.
Especially if a car has the led washer lights on the hood... my eyes go crazy.

good luck.... i guess you could always steal my story...

I live in MI as well. I have tinted the windows in a few of my cars, and always did the side rolldowns completely. I used limo or 5% tint on the back and quarter windows then did the side rolldowns a shade or two lighter and never had any problems with the cops. (Even when I was driving my 1991 Camaro like a total jacka**!!)
Good luck!

I don't mean to threadjack but:
Rick You should check out Extreme Car Audio they did my box and I am very happy with the work. Let me know and we could meet up sometime and you could check it out. I'm in GR also.

I had tint on my Lexus 20% around... got a few tickets some thrown away.

I ended up going to the doctor w/ my dad and we both got notes that we can show the officer.

It didn't help - they still give you tickets and you still have to go to court and that crap. Although they didn't believe me in court, they didnt' make me pay the time I had the note.

It's ok..we're still talking window tinting. I have used the Tint Factory for two of my cars and they did a great job. I will check out Extreme and compare prices, too. Thanks for the recommendation.!
I am hoping to get my tC next week. I'll get ahold of you and then I can check out your tint.
Thanks!
