I was at Carmax today, (I ran into a problem with my car and wanted some tech advice.) So as I walk towards service department....I ran into one of the co-workers of my sales consultant (aka my close insider.) He told me to stop at her desk and say "Hi." So I did.....

They were quite busy for internet sales which she was running at the time. By I explained about the car show idea and somehow I must of mixed my words around...She couldn't understand why I thought it was good idea (I'm still on my last night's sleep.) We kept getting interrupted by customer calls but she stated, to have everything in writing. I'm guessing a letter of reason, game plan, and a contract stating "No street racing, no this or that" that we would give to the owners...this has to be given to the location general manager. Good news is, he's a guy who knows me. Then if good idea, those papers will be sent to corporate headquarters.

How in the World are we going to explain everything on Carmax Corp on paper? Hey, we want to do a open car show and have you guys be the dealership who throws it

There's a resturant/bar/banquet hall that's about two minutes away from Carmax with huge parking lot? I still think there will be lot space conflict at Carmax?

 

Idk, businesses will probably be tightening up in these economic times.

 

I tried to explain to her about the idea...We charge (I know guys it sucks to go to those types of shows) to cover costs. Apprently, she hasn't been to a "show-off" car show...She kept comparing this idea to the Chicago Auto Show.

I said back, "No...This show is about people coming in with theirs and showing it off." Then she asks me "Why do people do that?" I told "To show off? Have you ever been at a classic car show? Well, same idea but with newer cars" She said "No, but my next door neighbor goes to them."

I said "Talk to this co-worker of yours, he'll get into detail and why people do them. Other Scion dealers do it...." A current Scion owner.

hmmm maybe I was just kidding, got a possible carbon fiber hood in the works

 

there was a guy in the green bay area that had a stock carbon fiber hood for sale. like $150 or so, but had a few stress cracks in it.

 

well the one im looking at only has a little oxidation to be buffed out and 350 shipped from cali, if you by any chance had any pics of how bad the green bay guy's hood was I'd like to see....
