with the joys of winter here in chicago and our wonderful city using way to much salt on the streets. Has anyone run into any problems with the salt eating away at the filter? I have the fujita intake and went to go clean it today and the filter is falling apart. i think the better route to go would be running a short ram in the winter and a full cold air for the nice summer days.

I had a Fujita and the filter got wet and started rusting.

The Fujita filters have a wire mesh around the filter media and it seems to get worn out pretty easily. I would just look into getting a different filter without the wire... either a K&N or a dryflow filter, like the AEM or AFE. Those shouldn't be impacted by salt.

I use an Injen RD intake - short for winter & rain, long for dry weather.

 

Doesn't much matter in this case... most intakes for the xB place the filter under the driver's side headlight, there's no splash guard that covers it so water and salt absolutely hit the filter... not a ton, but enough.

its a Fujita on a tc... but the pipe has nothing to do with the poor filter design or the conditions
