Default New performance store opening in joliet

JDMjim talked to me over at sears and i mentioned that i was opening a store in joliet. i would like to stock mostly scion stuff like body kits, fenders, cf hoodz, rims, exhaust, intakes and much more. i would like to know what would everyone like to see in a store. if their is alot of demand for scion parts then thats what i will mostly stock. My store will be opening hopefully by the first week of may. i would like to have a car show on the grand opening and i will be raffleing off some stuff. i will keep everyone posted and up to date about the show/grand opening. please let me know what you guys would like to see in my store. any input is helpful. thanks

I'd like to see anything that costs a lot to ship. Bigger stuff like panels and wheels.

Ok. I just talked to my buddies. they had a shop near wooddale and said that the demand for parts is still high, but that the internet prices were so low that they blow out any cometition because the people who sell on line are wholesalers. direct from the factory. so you need to think about how much you will make on each item. also, will you be offering installation or are you just selling the parts. i think if you also do installs, you will make more money that way. I wish you luck on your new shop. let us know about that grand opening so i could request that day off in advance.

installation is a must, and it might be beneficial to cross over into honda parts and tuning too. there are a lot of hondas out there and there isn't really a good shop around joliet. there is "the whip factory" in north plainfield but, i've never been there.

I didn't know whip factory was still around. I know the owner, but haven't seen him around for a long time. they had some really nice buildups at the time. I bet they are on the Nissan bandwagon too.

you should start doing scions like you said! but all cars is a must! the name of the store does not have the word scion in it! so all imports would be tight! there is an import car shop where i live but its for mostly hondas..

something to think about!

yeah, definitly gonna have to branch out.. you know the honda scene will always be out there lookin for parts and stuff.. also wanna jump into the nissan scene too.. im starting to see 240's EVERYWHERE now..

and yeah, installation is a must.. that's where you're probably gonna make the most money. just like everyone else said, there's the wholesalers on the internet and even ebay to compete with.

ooooorrrrrrr, you could give crazy discounts to SE:C members so whenever we hit a meet or show you can get free advertising

i dunno, i know i'm rambling now, but as i see it. i'd stock up on things for each car.. don't only stock up on parts for one make. but definitly pick one out to stock a little more on. get your name known on that scene... and then the word will spread.. and your shop will bring in more business..

.. but that's me.. i'm no business major or anything...

im starting to have a few questions... your 20 and opening your own shop?

I have seen alot of these shops flop so I really hope that you are getting alot of input from more than just us. I'm just worried that you have plans to open the shop but you are still not sure what you are selling...

I mean, good luck, just really think about EVERYTHING and talk to other shop owners before you finalize anything.

Yea, sell amps, subs, tvs, rims, performance accessories, bodykits, everything. think about it. you will have to compete with the market out there. keep the prices reasonable. and always think customer satisfaction. if you satisfy the customer, they will comback. throw in like free shirts or some stuff with a purchase or discounts on installations if the parts are baught there. simple things that makes consumers happy. sorry for preaching but i just happen to study this stuff. and yes, advsertising is easy. you have us!!lhaha

CAREFUL!!
if you order to much stuff and dont sell right away you can get your self into a hell of a bind. tv's radios and stuff like that can come later. just start off small and let the business flow! once you start building a rep, you can offer more things.
