Default Maintence cost inflated?

I believe in doing all the maintence on cars to keep them running. However I have been looking at the prices for the maintence and it seems expensive for the amount of work being done. Certain jobs like flushing the trans or brake lines might be a little involved but changing the oil, coolant and inspecting stuff isn't. I guess prices vary from shop to shop but I have seen post for $400 for some services that amount to changing fluids and inspecting stuff.

I really think a guy with an average amount of mechanical skills and a manual along with some advice could do most of the servicing himself/herself?

What do you all think.

You make 90 bucks an hour and can't afford a Hummer?

The shop charges ninety bucks an hour. They have to get some of that money too you know. Not sure waht his share comes out to, but should still be a decent amount

so how much would you charge for installing springs on a xB? I can handle the rears, but I need a spring compressor for the front. Might as well pay someone else if it's cheap enough.

Can you mod a Xb to look like a mini H2?
