Default New to Hawaii

Ok i see that there are slot of post here saying that they are moving into Hawaii, and I will be following shortly after most on the boards. My question is what are the laws about the cars in Hawaii? I read that you have to have a saftey inspecion and all that junk when you get there. What does that consist of. Also right now I live in a area with snow and it has craciked my window. Am i going to have to have that replaced before i get there?

Thanks all,
Dustin

yes, you won't be able to pass the annual inspection, with that cracked window...

geez, i would think that the safety inspection is something everyone would like ("...all that junk...).

even though there are many people out there that don't know their rear brake lights don't work (due to one or 2 sides not working).

you also have to get whats called a Reconstruction Permit "Recon" for stuff like suspension mods, 2'' bigger than stock rims and more.. im not sure all the details but you can look it up online. cops dont mess around here!

2 inchesbigger the stock = recon
suspension work of any kind = recon
replacing stock motor with another class of mother = recon

like they said, you need recon for your wheels and springs. the wheels need to sit within the fender well or your gonna need fender flares. as far as suspension, i'm not to sure about height requirement but i know they test for "adequete suspension travel" which shouldn't be a problem if your on springs and stock shocks.

thanks guys. I know that it isn't too much from the sounds of it to pass inspection, but damn looking at everything from homes, food, gas. everything out there is just so damn expensive. Thanks for the help. Guess i better get looking to getting the window fixed.

If i had the choice, i wouldn't move here.
But i've been here all my life.
So i've pretty much learned to deal with it.
what ever you do just dont raise kids here.
not a good idea. kids here NEVER seem to leave home.
once you see the prices you'll understand.
