Default A cruise in January? (N. Texas)

Whatup everybody!!!

So its WAY too cold to think about going to shows in winter.. not that there are any to go to anyway...

So what about a little cruise, like a road trip?
The idea I had was we all meet somewhere in the morning, (yeah I hate thinking about 'morning' much less being there, but hear me out...) And roll out together.

We can caravan to say Tyler (about 1.5 hours), Waco (same) or wherever!
1.5 hours isn't killer (see cruise to H-town, 5 hours!) and it gives us time to go to some senic locals and snap some pics, partake of some local cusine etc and still get home at a decent hour.

If we want to go to East Texas I can probably do some recon during the week since I go out there for work, personally check out the area.

This would be open to everyone of course, and the destination dosen't matter, just something fun to do on a weekend that dosen't require me to detail my car thank god..

So, what do YOU think? post up...!

Sounds like a good idea. I would be down for it, and location doesn't really matter to me.See what everyone else has to say.

To you gamblers, I drive to Shrev City every other month... it's about 3 hours. Thats an @$$ whip as Ben would say.
It is a intresting city though, lots of photo ops etc. 3 hours... eeessh.

Like I said I can find more info on anywhere EAST. Tyler, seems a little short on things to do, but maybe I haven't hunted hard enough.

How far is Austin?
I lived in Waco for 4 years, they have a really nice park that you can drive around in.
And thats about it.
ok i'm kidding,
I'm thinking Tyler or Waco, but i'm ALWAYS up for suggestions! I'll try to get some Chamber of Commerce info from both see which one comes out strongest.

I'm excited, this will be cool! Glad ya'll are down...

The weekend of Jan 13 I will be in San Antonio to see my son graduate from Air Force Basic training. But if I can go on the cruise just past Tyler in Longview is Pizza King. Great pizza, I started going there almost 40 years ago. Would make aleast a great lunch spot. The drive between Tyler and Longview is very pretty. Well at least in the summer.

If you want good pizza in tyler then try papa murphy's but bring an oven since it is take and bake. I will have to try pizza king the next time I'm down there in the longview area.

When in tyler stuff to see according to my in-laws

thier municiapal attractions (science place, zoo etc.)
rose garden
the loop (their main street)
a couple of historical sites through out tyler
some plantation (more info on that later)
and finally several state parks in the area

As far as a place to eat in tyler I personally like the san fransisco oven that is a good place to eat (sandwhich, pizza shop) but it is up to the masses

Yea i've heard Turner Falls is pretty cool but i've never been there. I think a lot of it is for outdoors enjoyment though so if its still cold it might not be as much fun....

I'm down with whatever though...
