Default Difference between COLD air intake, and plain AIR intake?!?!

I am concentrating on my engine right now, and I am going with a Strup exhaust, and Headers, but just don't know what kind of Air intake to get...

the main thing you want is for you to be able to suck in bigger gulps of air and to have that air be as cool as you can get it (comparied to the engine temp)

cooler = more dense = better

now SRI take in big gulps of air from somewhere in the engine bay. this air is not really that cool but with the flow of air going through the engine bay, it is still cooler that the engine.

with CAI, they take big gulps of air through somewhere more away from the engine. this air is a whole lot cooler than the engine, but the engine doesn't get it as quickly as with a SRI.

i think its mostly out of preference for what you like to see in your engine bay and which if you don't think it is too much trouble for you to maintain.

You forgot to mention ram air. Ram air is like CAI but has an opeing designed to force air into the intake. If you go fast enough it is like having 1 PSI of boost

I tried to do a ram air on my box, the fuel controller for that engine doesn't like that much air. Well it might, but it sure adds the fuel. only got 20mpg while testing this out. Also had a tendency to slip the clutch at higher speeds around 80 or so in 4th gear.

I don't know what I was doing wrong, but the fuel economy sucke for no more power than what I got. Could hardly notice except for my clutch slipping when I got on it hard. Well hard for what these things will do.

Just a small suggestion, get one that is powdercoated, unless you REALLY like polishing the shiny chrome/Stainless ones alot.

In you box I would say K&N for cold air. It has less bends which means better flow of air. I have Inejen short ram in my xA and love it. Once in a while I think about going back to the stock box with a custom ram air set up, but I love the sound from the open intake.
