Default Hit by something!!

On the way home tonight I was driving down 20 and there was a piece of another car or something that hit me on the bottom side somewhere. When I got to my friends house I checked to see if there was any damage. After a brief survey the only thing I saw that was damaged was an undercarriage light had been cut. Now the bad part. when I was almost home the check engine light came on. Do any of you crack mechanics know what could have possibly got broken on the bottom to make the check engine light come on? I didnt see any fluids or anything leaking out anywhere on a further inspection. Anyways tomorrow I am going to run by autozone and have them check the computer to see what it says.

Kinda hard to know why the CEL is on if you only hit somehting under the car, they only thing i can think of is maybe the o2 sensor.. other than that i really dont know.

********UPDATE**********

Late last night doing some investigative researh here on SL I found a tech article written by Mikochu (another xA pilot) on how to reset the engine computer. Well it worked and this morning I drove all the way from my house in Arlington to Lancaster airport (spotting Lupe on the way) and am proud to say it didnt come back on, so who knows, maybe it was just a glitch or something.

Well hopefully it wasnt anything and just a glitch.
But, in my old car, I had an Eclipse GST. I was drivin down the highway at night and something was on the road and i accidentaly ran over it and it flipped up and sounded like it hit something. My check engine light is always on so I couldn't tell if something happened. I pulled over to check for oil leaks but there was nothing so I kept driving.
I hit my oil return pipe. It bent the tube and my engine wasn't getting any oil.
I had no idea and I drove like that all the way home. The next day it was making a ticking noise, and I took it in and found out that my rod bearings were gone. Had to overhaul the engine. $$$$!
So something small like that might turn into something like what happened to me. I doubt thats what happened to you, but your CEL did turn on so I dont know.
Just some information to be aware about.
