Hey guys, first post, but been lurking for a long time, finally decided to create an account.

Hoping Houston guys can hellp w/ this:

I need to change the windshield on my 05 TC, hit a bird on my way to dallas
Dealer (Don McGill) quoted me $1200 for original toyota part installed, or he said he could get a contractor to install an OEM one for $350 total.

There's a bunch of windshield repair/replacement companies, but not sure which ones are any good, alot have bad reviews, so I want to make sure they do it right and seal it right etc.

any ideas or help?

they dont install though and i really dont know of any places that are any good.

 

First off, welcome Big-EZ. Don McGill? I live close to that dealership too. Second, give me 24 hours, I got you. Gotta make some phone calls for you dawg, but I got you though.

 

1200 is crazy, unless your insurance will pay for that and with very little copay. Try safelite, they did a pretty good job on my wife's car w/ good price

 

never go to Don McGill... They are a bigtime stealership. I have reported them for price gouging to toyota several times. Also refusal to do warranty repair.

 

I get my oil changes done there & I never had any problems.

yeah they had it, but I'm not worried about the actual part, I just want good installation.
I've heard horror stories of ppl having it fixed improperly and having alot of water leak through when it rains.

Yep. Yo Big-EZ, I did alot of research & made some few calls. Uniglass got some good reviews. Go with them.
