Interstate Scions First Meet
Hey all, I am trying to locate a place with ample parking, nice scenery, and the ability to have a bbq for our first meet! I have searched around various places, and am trying to find somewhere that isn't too far for PA, NY, CT, NJ people to get too. Considering PA, and NY are the biggest of the states mentioned, I tried to find parks close to the NY,PA border while trying to stay close to NJ also. 1 park per state, I added some info on each park. This is a 3 day poll, so vote now damnit!!
Promised Land State Park is in Pike County, 10 miles north of Canadensis, along PA 390. The park is easily reached from interstates 80 and 84. The park is within a one to three hour drive from Allentown, Easton, Bethlehem, Reading, Harrisburg, Scranton and Wilkes-Barre, and is about 100 miles north of Philadelphia and 35 miles from the New York and New Jersey state borders. This is my fav so far, It's huge, its really close to NY, NJ, and not too far a drive from say Danbury, CT.
Minnewaska State Park is situated in Ulster County, NY on the dramatic Shawangunk Mountain ridge that rises more than 2,000 feet above sea level. The terrain is rugged and rocky, blanketed by dense hardwood forest encircling two lakes- Located Close to I-87 On 44/55 West. This is a huge park I have been to in the past, Its located in South Western NY but not quite as close to the NY, PA, NJ borders as Promised Land State Park in PA- or High Point in NJ.
High Point Monument in Sussex, NJ----Take Route 23 approximately 7 miles north of the town of Sussex, NJ, or 4 miles south of Port Jervis, NY. The view, at 1,803 feet above sea level, is a spectacular panorama of rich farmland and forest, soft hills and lush valleys in three states. The blue line of the Delaware River divides the verdant ridges of New Jersey from those of Pennsylvania. High Point offers superb trails for hikers and skiers and quiet spots for campers and anglers.
(dont want Connecticut to feel left out)Squantz Pond in New Fairfield, CT offers four season enjoyment with steep, wooded slopes, a cool, blue pond and colorful foliage to delight visitors throughout the year. Close to NY, and NJ but a farther distance for PA folks.
i tried to pick the parks that were closest to borders, had picnic tables and such, and looked nice on the website 1 from each state, its your choice.
I've discarded any parks in the Bear Mountain NY region, because I thought it was unfair to those not from NYC area. If people would like to travel to an area closer to the NYC region however The Bear Mountain Region Parks are nice for example: Bear Mountain State Park, Tall Man Mountain Park are good candidates so I added that choice to the poll.

I voted Promised Land, PA... Hopped on their website to check it out and it seemed promising.
Plus, seeing that you've already been to Minnewaska, Nemo, I thought it would be more exciting. Who knows, the park might be new to everybody that decides to show; if it wins the majority, that is.. Minnewaska looked great, too, though. Was a tough decision!
Great job researching places for us to go. Thanks, Nemo!
Got this rolling! :D

As for where I want to go, it dosen't really matter cause it will take me about the same time and distance to get to any of them. ( I don't mind driving...can u tell>?? :D )
I like CT cause Ive been there before but Promise Land also looks really nice.
We will see, lets see what the other members decide and we will take it from there...
Letts get this rolling.....

Hey guys like I said before i'm up for anything. I Just voted for Promise Land State park because that is where almost everyone wants to meet.
My drive will be the same no matter where we meet, and Like I said before I love riding and driving. Is there anyone from NY that is driving down there that wants to meet and then drive to the meet...let me know!
Allright guys! Lets work on getting this official, also one more questions...what day are we exaclty doing this? Saturday & Sunday?? Which one?
Let me know!
