Street racing in austin...
Ok, so tonight I was driving to go hang out with a couple of friends and saw two tC's racing at the william cannon and brodie intersection around 11:30 p.m. One almost hit the curb he took the turn so wide. The light turned green and instead of taking the shortcut I followed them to the next light at mopac...they turned left on mopac and kept racing on to the highway.
One tC was black on black, the other was black with either silver or chrome rims. I couldn't tell cause it was dark.
Nice cars, stupid drivers.
Look, I'm not going to be a hypocrite and say I haven't raced people on the street but I did learn the hard way it's a bad idea. I was driving a civic a couple years ago and had a mustang pull up next to me and the passenger was talking poop. My two friends in the car told me to smoke him. So, I did. but after I got about 100 yards ahead of the car on a windy road my brand new tires caught the ground a little too well and my car spun around from the back on to a concrete pillar filled median. I missed the pillars by inches but my tranny, front end and a wheel were shot. I limped to a side street and my friends and I fixed what we could to get home. From then on I made the decision I would never endanger my life or, more importantly, anyone elses life like that ever again
Please don't street race. If you want to prove how fast your car is take it to the track. My friends 340whp 240 will put your tC in its place.

yea, i got over the street racing really quick wen we were in dc racing, and we were surrounded by cops, it was crazy, somehow we got away, i think there was a truck that just gunned it, and we just drobe back streets for a long time untill we thought we lost the cops, we eded up parking infront of someone house, and we walked to my friends crib and waited it out till the next day. i found out the guy we were about to street race got cought, and had a huge fine, got his care impounded, and got jail and community service time. it was then that i decided not to do it anymore
teh Tacoma i owned before the xB was very successful in street racing......we all stopped when a friend wrecked pretty bad at a local spot
then " cruising " got more popular so we started hanging out in parking lots
cops ran us off from there too
now what are the very energetic kids to do these days??
there are not enough drag strips near here (or Austin)
we have NO actual race tracks (road courses)
the only thing in SA is autocross and 1 track that is always packed because we only have 1 track
Keep It Off the Streets is a great theory
it's just funny to me that most of the people making laws against street racing are of the generation that invented street racing!
