Default XB Raffle?????

I bought some tickets the other day and today I got this e-mail:Scott - Thank you for purchasing a raffle ticket for a chance to win a 2006 customized Toyota Scion. The Scion Raffle was a partnership between United Cerebral Palsy of Dallas and Fowler Scion of Dallas to raise funds for services for children and adults with disabilities. These funds would come from the monies raised above the cost of the 2006 Scion that was the raffle prize. Unfortunately, we have not sold enough raffle tickets to cover the cost of purchasing the car and state law prohibits us from extending the raffle any longer. We see no alternative but to cancel the raffle effective June 14, 2006.

Because the raffle is canceled, we are offering to return the cost of your tickets to you. If you would like to donate these funds to UCP, your gift will qualify as a fully tax deductible donation that will benefit children and adults with disabilities. UCP uses donations to provide programs for children and adults with cerebral palsy and other disabilities.

We appreciate your support of our programs and your interest in UCP. Please let us know by July 7, 2006 whether you would prefer to have your raffle ticket purchase price refunded or if you will donate these funds to UCP. Let us know your preference by doing one of the following:

· call Elizabeth at 214/351-2500 ext. 253,

· write us at: UCP, Attn: Elizabeth, 8802 Harry Hines Boulevard, Dallas, TX 75235-1716

· send an email to Scion@ucpdallas.org.

To help us with this process, please provide us with your full name and address when you respond.

Your ticket order placed with your VISA on June 14 for 6 tickets at $100 was not processed. Your card was not charged for these tickets. Our records indicate that your prior ticket purchases totaled 12 tickets for $200.00.

Once again, we want to express our appreciation to Fowler Scion of Dallas for their wonderful support of our efforts to help people with disabilities.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience the raffle cancellation may have caused.

Jan Zeigler, CFRE

I heard the same thing. I thought that the Mad-Sciontist and Fowler were donating the car to the charity to help raise money. I take it that they were not donating it, in fact they were Selling the car and hoping to raise a couple dollars for the charity. That seems really lame in my opinion. To think that all we have seen from them was to buy tickets to help the kids.... seems they wanted us to buy tickets to help them sell a car... pretty lame.

Oh well, i guess we all fell for it, but now unfortunatly for the kids or for Fowler not enough of us did (depends on how you look at it).

Default WE WANT TO MAKE SURE EVERYONE KNOWS WHATS UP!!

3 MONTHS AGO WE AGREED TO HELP UCP RAISE MONEY BY LETTING THEM HAVE THE XB WE BUILT FOR A HUGE AMOUNT LESS THAN WHAT WE HAVE IN IT! WE ALSO AGREED TO HELP THEM SELL TICKETS(THOUGH THIS WAS SOLELY THEIR RESPONSIBILITY AS IT WAS THEIR FUNDRAISER) AND TO USE OUR AD BUDGET FOR OUR SUMMER SCION SHOW TO TRY TO RAISE MONEY FOR THEM AS WELL AS AWARENESS. THEY IN TURN WERE TO HAVE THEIR GROUP SELL THE TICKETS TO THEIR SUPPORTERS AND RAISE THE MAJORITY OF THE MONEY AND THEN WE WOULD RAFFLE THE CAR. I HAVE BEEN ON THE OTHER SIDE OF MANY CAR RAFFLES WITH OUR CHURCH AND OTHER ORGANIZATIONS AND NEVER IS THE CAR DONATED IT IS SOLD AT COST OR A LARGE DISCOUNT....FOWLER NEVER AT ANYTIME HAD A CHANCE OF MAKING A PENNEY ON THIS IN FACT HAS ALREADY SPENT OVER $10,000 IN ADVERTISING, PROMO $'S AND CONTRIBUTIONS. I AM SICK THAT THE RUG WAS PULLED OUT FROM UNDER MY FEET RESULTING IN ALOT OF PEOPLE BEING DISAPPOINTED, BUT I ALSO WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT EVERYONE UNDERSTANDS EXACTLY WHAT REALLY HAPPENED. Ron, I hate that this has happened and I know you did everything you could to keep this thing going. While we are understandably disappointed, it is in no way focused on you or Fowler, atleast as far as Chad and I are concerned, we are behind you 100%.

Personally I think UCP has screwed the pooch on this one and I think they are counting on people letting them keep the money.

I know I had to call the local radio station and cancel the PSA we were recording to run tomorrow to promote this.
This blows.

It sucks for Fowler too because there will be people like Bob who hold them responsible for it.
Ron is a great guy and this is tearing him up.

I got the email. Ron is devastated and I heard his daughter was hurt, broke a bone, yesterday afternoon. My parents bought some tickets. I wonder how many people like them that never use the computer will get notified by mail? I am going to ask for my money back. No telling how long that will take.

Props to Ron and Fowler , you did a heck of a job getting this rollin , i also spoke with ron yesterday , i called him when i recieved the e-mail , he is indeed very hurt by all this and it's not his fault .

UCP is counting on keeping the money , is what i think also but i want mine back . you screwed us only once ..

I did speak to the lady at UCP , she said to send an e-mail to UCP with your name address , day time # , # of tickets and ticket #'s and total price paid and they will process refunds or you can mail to UCP address for a refund , it has to be in print .
