Just like the title says, I am looking for someone that knows how to tune a car stereo and is familiar with Alpine HU. I have the CDA-9855 with an Alpine amp and sub. My system doesn't sound as good as it should and was hoping that someone that has already tuned their Alpine HU can help me get mine sounding the way I want it.

Not looking for anything in particular. Just lookin for someone that knows how to properly tune car stereos that knows how to use the functions of the Alpine HU. Have you custom tuned your own?

 

I don't know how to properly tune the crossover, time correction and EQ. I would like that done as well

 

its a learning process.
if you wanna take a stab at it yourself (i know you probably already have) but...

turn your system up at the volume you usually listen to it, or as loud as you listen to it (do as loud)

once you have it like that, play around with your settings, most likely turn your bass all the way down on your stock speakers, turn your sub close to or all the way up (kenwood units have this feature), and then mess around with the levels and freq. or the treble and mid.

My system sounded like poop too till i changed all my settings. My car sounds so good now that people think my door speakers are aftermarket =]

 

I know how to do it, but properly . . .no. Try your local audio shop, I go to Myer Emco in gaithersburg. . . they know their stuff. Talk to Sean. Or I can just show you how to adjust the things and you can do it by ear. It took me a really long time to set my stero up but I still have some work to do. It kinda all boils down to what you are looking for and what kind of music you like to listen to.

as far as the EQ and the time correction, check the manual. . . it has a pretty simple explaination of things. Although it's better to do it by ear, IMHO, mainly cause I know when I tuned it using the formulas given by the manual I really didn't like how it sounded. If you don't have the manual you can DL it from alpines site or I can email it to you.

The crossover is dependent on how you have your amp set up too. there are several other setting that can make a difference. If you are running an amp to power the speakers you'll need to turn off the "power IC" basically it turns off the amp inside the headunit. stuff like that little tweaks here and there.

Not yet man. Maybe if I see you at a local meet, you can help me tune it in my car. I mostly listen to hip-hop, but also most other kinds of music. I have no idea how to tune, crossover and time correction.

 

Maybe we can meet up somewhere in rockville, out of the reach of the police. . .you know they have a noise ordinance law . . .stupid. You might wanna get a hold of the specs of all the stereo components. It'll help when setting up the system. Maybe we can get a little Scion meet goin one of these days. I don't have much time because of work but I'd definately come out for a bit.

 

That radio SUCKS to tune a system with. Unless your an audiophile or up for alot of learning, i wouldnt reccomend buying it.

 

a little too late for that Its a nice unit. Allows you to do pretty much anything. The problem is I don't know how I am going to eventually sell it and try to get an AVIC-D1

 

I love the 9855. I was looking at one of the Pioneer HU the ones with the blue OLED and center ****. . . but everyone just kept telling me to get the 9855. Even if I had to do things over again I would buy it again. Setup is a pain in the ___, I'm not an audiophile either. . . I guess it just boils down to personal preference and money. I like the fact my HU is connected to my amp I can see the temp, cooling fans, and I can adjust several of the features of the amp without having to hop into the back seat. I dunno though I don't think it's for everyone.
