I'm not due to go in until august but I was wondering if anyone with a I/H/E setup has gone in already? If you did were there any problems? I figure the emission readings would be better but my main problem is that where I work I see emission failures all the time and to be honest I'd rather find out if I should put everything back to stock before I go in. Thanks.

VA's emission laws are a bit stricter then MD and DC's. I don't see to many "tuned cars" in VA when I am in the Fairfax, Alexandria, Falls Church, Annandale areas. I am starting to see more but compared to certain areas in MD VA has very little in the way of tuned cars.
if you have OBDII they normally just plug in the diagnostic machine and check for codes. If you have a check engine light they automatically fail you on the spot.
I took my 89 civic hatch through emissions a few years back with a motor swap, boost and no cat and it passed. I was shocked.

The new system sucks... cant fudge it anymore, unless its OBD1. So if it doesnt pass, which it might not if the header removes the first cat. Thats the 2 way cat if im not mistaken. Get rid of the CEL and give it shot. you can always throw the stock manifold back on if you have it. only takes like 10 min.
In Maryland, they don't do a visual. They plug into your ODBII port and let you go. Even with I/H/E, I doubt you'd fail emissions unless it was an RX-7. I don't think those things pass emissions when they're stock...
