maryland police are out of control
okay, so i was on my way to school this morning heading to frostburg, i know i have lots of points and prior speeding convictions on my record, so i mind my own business, i would like to keep my license, and lower my insurance rates.
so on I-70 west just past the I-270 junction, a state trooper comes up on my tail, turns on his light rack and pulls me over. he says he had me on radar going 82 mph in a 55 mph zone. first thing that comes to mind is when did i go through a 55 mph zone? all of I-70 is a 65 mph zone. he tells me that he clocked me on I-270 north before getting onto I-70 west where the speed limit is 55 mph. but i wasn't on I-270 north this morning. i got onto I-70 west from route 97 (georgia ave).
i ask the cop how could he, at 5:30 am, before daylight, with rain and a cloudy, moonless night, have clocked somebody doing 82 mph on 270, pulled onto the interstate, now, a stock crown victoria takes about 8 seconds to get to 60 mph, factor in all the additional weight of a a light rack, special equipmen and reinforcement and protection that police interceptors have, they have no additional drivetrain upgrades for power, all they have are heavy duty suspension, and transmission cooler. so now lets say that now it takes him 9 seconds to get to 60, and then the fact that it is rainy, he needs to take off carefully not to fish tail, and then he has to do it with traffic on the interstate without using his lights and sirens. so lets say 10 to 12 seconds later, this officer isn't even going as fast as the vehicle he just clocked, he would still be going 22 mph slower.
now at this junction, the car could have taken I-70- east or I-70 west, and once on I-70 west, he could have immediately taken the exit for harper's ferry and been outta the state trooper's sight.
now it is dark out, really dark, and rainy, like i said, so this trooper zapped a set of headlights, and started chasing after a set of taillights. i asked him if he had anytihng a license plate, or vehicle description or so much as a color. he said no, he followed me. there are dozens of other cars with taillights similar to the tc, other tc's, pontiac g6, honda accords, acura rl. so he thinks that he can just pick my taillights out of a line up.
he just profiled me, scion tc, and a driver with a list of prior speeding offenses. case closed.
i'll be going to court for this one.
now i said they are out of control, and that is because two months ago, my brother got rear-ended in his new mercedes-benz so hard that he was pushed into the car infront of him, but an undercover police officer. more police came, and the officer who hit my brother was NOT sited!!! if the roles had been reversed, i am 200% sure my brother would have gotten a ticket.
this past weekend, my gf, was leaving the metro in her xa, she came to a stop sign, and not only stopped, but waited for a pedestrian in the crosswalk to pass by, before slowing pulling out to see as far as she could in both directions before completing her turn. she sees it is clear and pulls out, to be pulled over right down the block by a police officer who says she didn't come to a complete stop! luckily he decided to just give her a warning, but still, that is rediculous.
so seriously, i know i have prior convictions for speeding, but even when i mind my driving, i get pulled over and ticketed for speeding on roads i'm not even on! i can't believe that now that i am actually minding my driving, i'm still getting ticketed!

Man bro that sucks. When I moved to Maryland last year I hadn't had a ticket in YEARS!!!!! In 3 months I had like 4 tickets. It's crazy up there. Virginia is even worse. I'd go to court and fight it. Good luck with it though. Like you said all of your priors is going to hurt you.
yeah, i mean, it is one thing when cops would ticket me through a speed trap. sure, it sucks, but what are you going to do? they sat there in daylight, said, there is a silver scion tc doing XX in a XX, pull them over.
this is just like "hey, lets pull over that guy and say he was driving recklessly.

Yea, if you were going on I-70 through Frederick (where 270 hits I-70) the Speed Limit goes down to 55mph for a couple miles.
Sorry about the ticket though. Hope you beat it in court.

not all cops are bad state boys are just that way I have worked with some of them in the pasted just go to court and ask when his system was last checked. It must be checked every week most dont do it.
yeah, i really don't have a problem with police, my next door neighbors are a montgomery county and rockville police officers, and alot of my regular customers in my restaurant are montgomery county and park police officiers. i really don't have a problem in montgomery county, but the state troopers just don't seem to like me.
so i don't know, i printed out a map quest route that i took from my house to show that my route route is completely reasonable. don't know what else i could do...should i just pull over every couple of exits to top off my gas and get a receipt to show where i have been? it is friggan rediculous.

Ive yet to get a ticket and I am always on the interstates, 64, 195, i95, i295 and seldom go the limit.
Here are the rules
1, stay with the pack
2 go the limit if you are by yourself
3 watch for cops, never speed around a cop or the traffic around you.
3 drive steady as a rail, no weaving, multiple lane changing or not using your signals
4 if a cop comes up behind you and you are in the left lane, move over immediately
5 stay within 10 over the limit, most cops give you that, 11 over the limit and you could get a ticket if you are not driving with two hands on the wheel and driving steady as a rail

meh they aren't that bad. I get tailed all the time. I play, "Spot the cop" I see a cop, I check my speed. Not that I ever do 10mph over any more anyway. It's fun cause I get tailed all the time on 100 at 3 in the morning and I keep my speed constant at 55mph change lanes with a turn signal and they drive right past.
