Default Question for Ptuning

Ptuning, do you work on other toyotas than scion? I got a 97 tacoma truck with v6, supercharger, 4wd, automatic and 44 thousand miles on it. It was parked for 5 years and has been checked out by a local toyota dealer. They said its been flashed and charged me 100 bucks to do an induction servicing. After that it sounds like a diesel at idle, what I recall it sounding before it was parked by the previous owner and just had the supercharger replaced for bearing failure by warranty.

After a few tanks of preminum fuel and bottles of injector cleaner, it seems to just lack power in the engine department. It still giving better performance than the first two tanks, but it seems slower than I recall. Its gvrw is slightly more than that of an gen 2 xb, yet best 0-60 is like 9 seconds, assuming it grips and the tranny runs the gears. Got to be careful as its easy to light up the tires from a dead stop when its warmmed up. When its cold, you cant squeal tires. The mpg has gone from 13-17mpg with horsing around on both tanks.

Can you guy do anything with it in regards to performance? Is this "normal" for a blown taco? I just dont think 9 seconds is fast for 0-60 and the tranny has a mind of its own. It refuses to shift when cold and over 50mph it refuses to upshift and just boosts instead. Others it will hang when in first shifting to second, other times it skips first and just selects second til 55, then shifts to third.

Thanks

sounds like more of a transmission issue. I once had a car that was sitting for years, and the transmission was doing the same crazy things, it was because the internal seals were bad and dry-rotted/cracked from sitting so long without transmission fluid flowing for so long. But being a 1997 Im not sure about yours. I would sugest a transmission fluid flush, and also what helped mine A LOT was to add a bottle of Lucas oil Transmission Stop Slip fluid. It is basically ATF with thick viscosity which bumps up the hydrolic pressure in the transmission and the viscosity also helps internal seal leakage fluid bypass.

Also any supercharged vehicle I have come across has had belt slippage issues and when the vehicle is cold it is more apparent thus a lack of power.

We can check out the truck all you have to do is schedule an appointment.

It has a tranny cooler and mobile 1 in the tranny. What about just changing the fluid to the stock toyota fluid and replace the filter?

You are right, when I re-read my post it seems the tranny is the issue. Its not like its lugging or anything, but the trannys indecision to pick a gear, shift and lock the torque converter.

Nothing like slamming the gas petal to the floor at highway speed and see the boost meter read from -15 to +8 but no gear change or release of the torque converter.

We met at the Richmond Scion meet where they took us to applebees. I had a silver streak 06 xa, now an 09 white xb. I was the guy yelling at you for running a red in downtown richmond.

Yeah, I bought a supercharged toy truck in an estate sale and its not the crotch rocket the seller or previous owner I use to know made it out to be.

Default PTuning Question.....

Also from Centreville, VA......
PTuning, What is your phone number?
I tried 411 but you are not listed (with A.T.+T.)

I got an alignment locally and they told me that the rears were out of spec.

The rears are not adjustable, correct?
Is there anything that I can do about the rear alignment?

I raced your blown XA at M.I.R., I just can't remember who won.

I checked with my dealer on changing the fluid and filter. They said it does not have a filter, just a screen and they would rather flush it. They said flushing it could make it better, worse or no change.
