Default Scion tC Drivers with Headers. (In VA)

Yo guys,

So I've got these Megan Racing Headers that I wish to install on the tC. However someone told me that by installing the headers i would be f-ing myself because the cat. Converter must be removed during the install process and that would have my sensor set off the engine check light and thus making the car inoperable due to the fact it would never pass emissions or inspection.

Any feedback about the matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Guys

it depends on your state law. here in PA they are picky about emissions the check your car every year. i have a dc-sport header with stock s pipe, stock mid pipe and greddy exhaust and i passed inspection the last 3 yrs i have had my tc. Its true your car will have a check engine light on but their is a trick for that. go on ebay and get a anti-fouler that goes on your secondary oxygen sensor on your s pipe under your car. It basically spaces the sensor further back and that way it tricks the computer that it is reading the correct readings and your check engine light or cel will go away. Be prepaired to lose low end tourque but gain high end tourque. hope this helps.

Yeah, you wont pass inspection if you dont have a connection. Before you go to get the inspection just swap the other header back in and change it out when your done.

Well, If i remember correctly we don't have to worry about emissions here in Richmond/Hampton Roads. So i can't help you there.

But for the state inspection, just find somewhere that will pass it for a little extra cash.

I have a family friend who does inspections in Hampton Roads area, so i never worry about it. But i know there are alot of places that will pass you. Just ask around.

Its rumored some areas use the thing up the tail pipe or the scan tool. I am in Richmond, they do neither. I have my local dealer inspect my car, its free since I got it from them. I had weapon r header, strup muffler, full hids in my old xa, its passed with no problems. My tacoma has all the trd parts including headers and a burned out fog and burned out driving lamp. It too passed with flying colors.

Im suprised no one flammed you yet for saying Headers haha... Well like stated above do the anti-fouler trick, i think there is a write up on here somewhere just search for it.....Also wht is the rest of your exhaust setup? Are you completely catless because you might not pass the Sniffer Test, although i dont know if they do that in VA...Pretty strict on it here in PA

I got inspection coming up in March and not sure what im going to do since i recently boosted and full exhaust
