Default Whats up with the sudden dealer interest in having events.

Seems like suddenly the dealers in the area are all wanting to be active in the whole scion thing. Any one know why they are all being so friendly all the sudden?

Seems kind of strange when they all suddenly start having events, when its been 3 years of nothing for the most part. Except for Concord and one event at TandC, no one has had much involvement up until a few months ago.

Part of it is a push from Corporate, and the rest is a handful of Sales People that have seen the interaction between Clubs/Dealerships in other areas (such as Florida).

i would sorta kinda argue the dealer and club support.... we have been looking for dealer support for some time now and coporate is a hold up because Shocker Scions is not Scion evo or Scikotics or another national club

Part of it is just networking...second.... honestly when you run 15 deep max..they may not know where they may see a return on their investment....you job is to sell them on that

Its not even about being a national club most of these dealerships around here in the dark. When i started our group of scion evolution here in jax nobody ever knew anything as long as you show intrest they will help you out its like i'll stratch your back if you stratch mine. most of your sales men dont care about selling scions cause there no money in it. most of these dealerships never even heard of a scion champion. i think its more of people working inside of the dealerships who own scions that do care.

It's cause no one wants the "new" Scions. They totally missed the mark on both cars IMO. Especially with the xB. It's almost like they looked at it and said "lets change everything people like about it and go with that". Believe me anytime a dealership shows interest it for their benefit not yours.

I can tell you from personal experience that the dealership you are talking about is wasting their money. I have been very involved with Scion since the launch and it is hard to get most of the dealerships to adjust to what needs to be done. They would rather waste money on newspaper ads which have been proven to not be near as effective as they used to be. I have had to fight with my dealership in the past to get them to do things differently. The best thing a dealership can do is get tied in with a club and contrary to what they are thinking, a new club would be the way to go. An established club already has an idea of what they want and they are only going to grow so far. A new club has excitement with it and excitement is what sells these cars. Dealerships that are doing things differently and looking at these cars as a chance to get new customers into their stores are doing the best. I could go on and on, but John, don't give up on the dealership backing. You need to convince them that you are an asset and not a cost. I have been doing this for years on both sides of it (dealership and club) so if you have any questions on how to get in with a dealership, you can give me a call or send me a PM. If you can help them be successful, it is good for Scion which in turn helps me (everybody is going to have their own motives no matter what anybody ever says!!!!)

On another note, I have been holding events at my dealerships since the launch and that is what has made me successful at selling Scions. I do not know why everybody has just now jumped on the band wagon....

That is really good to hear because it makes it worth while for dealerships to support their owners that they already have.

I will second scott.... only i would add in Rick Hendrick in Fayetteville... i have turned several people to Concord or Fayetteville to buy their scions because of the support those dealerships have shown Scion Owners... i know Concord has been the leading supporter and i will drive a hour to concord to buy stuff im in need instead of 5 minutes down the road to the commerical/newspaper/ hearing 1-800-new toyota on the tv a million times dealership because A. They dont promote Scions... ive seen a scion on their front yard maybe twice in the past two years and i was one of the suckers that bought one. B. because they have no interest in support to scion community (ive asked) C. I like the guys in concord/fayetteville alot more haha

I brought by a All Scion 08' flyer to my Wilmington dealer (a Hendrick owned dealer) and they were talking about a Rally earlier that day about setting one up one day.

the problem is (the past 2 times) that since were on the coast, its hard to get anything organized since im at the @ss end or North Carolina.

i drove by concord toyota and i like their layout. ill come to a sunday meet now a little more often since i have a babysitter and my girl would probably want to come
