Default Future MY tC owner here, question about Rudy Luther Scion.

I am currently awaiting a BSP Scion tC, and I was really considering the TRD Supercharger.

I am going through Rudy Luther Scion in Golden Valley.

My question is, they say they have yet to install a factory Supercharger. How is your experience with them and warranty work, for anyone who bought their Scion through them.

Thanks for your help.

I am not to sure on the GV Scion service staff, but the guys at Scion City would be able to do it. If they can do a full engine swap, I think they could easily handle a supercharger. They just so happen to have gained that knowledge from my box.

I like Scion City. The service department doesnt hassle me and mother me when it comes to mods I've done. Rudy Luther was cool when Kelly and Jesica were there. I went back a while ago and the service guy treated me like $hit. Threaternd to void my warrenty for a Borla axle back I've had on the car since I bought it.

Scion City does great work, are prompt and communicate very well.

Walser tried to void my warranty cause I put after market LEDs on my car. I went in for fix for a ticking noise (which they didn't fix) and said if they see I swapped out the LEDs it would void my warranty.

I would double check that with them. I think they just mis-spoke. I was told from the start that any aftermarket mods/parts I put on my car, I void only the parts that got swapped. For example, if I decide to install springs and struts, only the springs and struts have their warranties voided. The only thing that is exempt to that is if I install a forced induction (turbo) which then it voids the warranty on the whole engine. That is what I was told by my salesman and one of the guys in the service department there at Walser.

So I guess I can't get the TRD SC for the 07 tCs? That sucks cause I was really looking forward to forcing some induction.

If the factory/dealership installs the SC, then your fine. If you do it urself, warranty is voided on the engine.

this is true, I was jut reading through the Scion Magazine that came with my car and they had a one page article about it. As long a a Scion Dealer puts it in, everything should still be covered.

Well here is the response I got from TRD on the 07 TRD SC:

Thank you for your interest in TRD. The supercharger kit for the 2007 Scion tC is in development. At this time, we do not have an estimated time of arrival, specifications or pricing. Please feel free to contact us in the near future for updates.
And here is why they can't get it:

Scion Says
Publish Date: 06.01.2006
To respond to changes in SAE horsepower testing procedures and to meet ULEV II emissions standards, Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) made changes to the upper intake, exhaust, and engine management ECU of the 2007 tC's 2.4-liter engine.

Because of these changes, the existing TRD Vortech supercharger will not carry over into the 2007 model year.
TRD has already redesigned the affected components and is currently working with TMC and Scion to confirm the accuracy and ease of installation. Additionally, TRD engineers are working with TMC to remap and recalibrate the ECU software for the 2007 supercharger kit.

TRD superchargers for 2007 tCs will be available later this year. The current TRD supercharger isn't affected and still fits the 2005 and 2006 Scion tC.

Default Supercharger for 2007 tC

Just delurking here to get a wee bit of credit from behind the scenes. I work at Rudy Luther Scion, and did tell *someone* interested in the Supercharger for the tC that we hadn't installed one yet. That was on a tC. We *have* installed Superchargers on other Toyotas. Rudy Luther has some of the very best techs around. I spoke with them personally about the Supercharger for your tC, and was told it would be no problem when it's available.

I'm also the person who sent you the information about the Supercharger not being available yet for the 2007--that quote from Scion Says was mine, right?

You can get the Supercharger with your car when you sign out on it, and it will be installed as soon as it's in stock.

Just as a general comment here, if anyone ever has an issue with a service experience, you should take it up with the service manager of the dealership. They can't fix things, or improve, if they don't know about the problem. We value your business, and I truly want your experience to be the best possible. There's not a single dealership that gets it right every time. And if we get it wrong the first time, we'll do our best to get it right the second time. If you look for it, you'll find somebody to tell you something bad about *every* dealer. It would be great to hear the good stuff, too...

Re-lurking...
