I heard the clutch starts slipping at around 40k. I called JSC speed about thier spec one clutch, they said that they would do a clutch and flywheel kit and give you a break. When my clutch goes out, I am going to have a lightened flywheel put in. I have also noticed dealers have a lot of scions on the lot. This also isn't the time of year people buy a car, they will be gone once the snow melts. (some time mid july)

Re: Lots of Scions on the lot:
With the last production of the xB and xA in December, we got all of that inventory in January to tide us over until the new xB lands in April. What usually came in a trickle over the winter months came as a whoosh this year, and they're done now.

Things always slow down in the winter months around here (I wouldn't know about places like Arizona or California...hmph...) I also know a lot of people are riding the fence, thinking they'll wait to see if they want the old xB or new xB when it arrives. I'm probably not going to be able to give them that choice. My stock in xB's and xA's is nearly nothing now, thanks to all of you coming and getting your cars from me. I do have a few of them yet, so stop by and buy and get the new magazine. I feel like the Maytag repair(wo)man.

When my clutch goes, I am converting to electric. Me and Tom Hanks.

The conversion is $55,000--add the cost of an xB at about $15,000 and you're up to $70,000 without adding in the fun stuff. I give Hanks snaps for spending it on an electric xB, rather than a Hummer or a sports car. One of the articles said he might show up at the Oscars in his xB. I don't know if he did. That would be some *SPOTTED* in Hollywood!

I don't know the details of the transmission--no gear head me--but I suspect there's no clutch anymore. :::::feeble attempt to stay on topic and not thread jack :::::

Two points:
1) $1200 for a clutch???????????? does not sound right.
2) Lots of boxes on the lots in CA--lots of RS4's left as well. Maybe people waiting for the new one--or maybe the novelty has worn off.

why are the stock clutches slipping at 40k miles?? Is this something that ought to be covered under warranty? Seems to me that if they're slipping at 40k miles with normal use that it must be a manufacturer defect.

it is because they are the echo clutch and the gearing is still for the echo. which has less weight than the box. so it is the pressire plate and the throw out beering that gose on them...
