Default web developement

Anyone good at any of the following:

~XHTML/CSS
~PHP/mySQL/PHPmyAdmin/Database Management
~Ajax
~Photoshop/Paint Shop Pro

I'm working on a little project (from the old defunked MN Scion website). It basically going to be an organised Scion website to get info on the cars, FAQs, Articles (they are going to be taken from here *only with permission of original creator), events etc.

I have most of the database prept up. I started working on the layout. If someone could help me out in anyway I would appreciate it!
an easy task someone could do is take the FAQ (i got permission...a long time ago ) from here and put it into the database for me :D
Why am I doing this? for experience and to have a more organized place to get scion info.

I'm preping the layout right now. of you want, you can make a banner with these specs:
max height: 100px
max width: 800px
keep it simple/clean :D
put "Expose" somewhere in the banner.

here is a link to layout (WIP): http://nolvex.freepgs.com/scions/

You can also create a simple background (small file that can be repeated) and any other imput is good. If you want an example of a nice logo (my buddy made it for me), you can look at my other debunked website http://nolvex.freepgs.com/hyp/

yes there was a MNScion website back in the beginning...it was something I was paying for out of my pocket and it was when we were trying to get the club up and running... I didn't have enough time or interest to keep it going...
I am so glad that people are gettin stuff up and running and that you guys are keeping meets going! It's nice to see.

I'm a photoshop/CSS/XHTML/DB Management/photographer/general webdev guy.

Sample (in progress): http://www.pmaduluth.com

I typically charge though - unless you have a really good, organized idea of what exactly you want. Then for the purpose of a club site I could probably help.

You could make good use of Google Calendars on the website for events and stuff. People can subscribe to calendars like that too (even in iCal). Anyway, yeah. I have lots of those kinds of ideas.

It seems like a good idea, I haven't looked at any google API yet thought. Is it pretty easy to integrate it into a website? do you have to have a google account in order to look/add stuff to it?

hmmm, an idea just popped into my head. Maybe I can create a scion specific account on there, then I can add stuff through a webpage on the site and it will add the event into that account with the google API, would that work?

I'm pretty sure you don't need an account to look at stuff. You'd have to have access to the calendar to add stuff. (I don't know if they do group calendars now...?) If you take a look at some samples and the API instructions it isn't terribly hard. I hacked out the Google Maps API pretty easily.

Did more work to the layout, you can see how its kinda gonna look minus the images for the layout (which i like to keep to a minimum.)

*edit* whoa, just check it in internet explorer and the events part is acting funky. Will fix later!

I'm a poor student working my way through college

I do have a very good idea on how I want the site, but its gonna take a while to get everything up. I want to get the "most wanted" stuff up first like news posting, event handling.

What I want to do for the event stuff is to have a roll call list, date, time, name of event, etc...
then when the event is over, users who went can rate the event, add pics (will reseize to save webspace only have 350MB right now, upgrade can be done if it gets too big), etc. I have the database setup for it, I just need to write the code

Good idea! I'm a ColdFusion developer - so can't help you much there.

Tip: standard ad sizes are as follows:

728x90
468x60
120x300
120x600
160x300
160x600
120x90
300x250

(Yknow - if you want to sell ad space or something.)

nice work, I like it! I'll PM you my email if you could send me the image file =)

*update*
Got the mini events list & news post working. Working on the Events page right now (there's nothing to do at work )
updated the www link in my profile to point to the site also.

What colors would you guys/gals like the layout to be? Red, Green, Blue? I can have multiple color designs as layout code is all in one nice template file :D
