Default Check Engine light help

My '05 tC (manual) just hit 96k mi. Maintenance required light has been on since last oil change (just never reset it). This morning after a day of heavy rain, my check engine light came on. (I didn't drive it yesterday.) I commute an hour and a half, and everything was working fine. No shakes, no noises, temp gauge was perfect. When I was pulling into work, I noticed the clutch squeaking when depressed/released. I'm hoping that was due to the rain/wet roads, and the check engine is maybe O2 sensor? I will be going to AutoZone tomorrow to have them read the codes, just didn't know if this sounds familiar to anyone else. Thanks.

since you don't really have any symptoms to speak of, it could be anything. might be a harmless evap code, or maybe one of the o2 sensors is getting worn out. but a quick stop at auto zone should point you in the right direction.
