If you're getting springs then yeah you need a spring compressor. If you're getting coilovers then I don't think u need spring compressor because you're switching out the entire shock/spring piece... whatever its called... right? Don't take my word tho... all I've ever done is my own springs and the bf's vw gti coilovers lol. Just do research and you'll find list of what you need to do the job
The deal matt got seems legit. Ebays not bad either, just depends on the seller... ya know? Do lots of research

ive been doing soo much research. its rediculous. i was hoping to get my car dropped in time for this weekend in Dudley but i dont think that's going to happen :[ but yea i dont know. i feel coil's are the best way to go. why spend 800 on a cup kit when i can get coils for another 200$? plus coils will help handling soo much better. haha
You do need a spring compresser actually. You need to remove the top hats from the front strut assembly and transfer them to the coilovers. Be very careful with the intstructions... when people say not to remove that top nut, DONT. Almost broke a rib when the spring shot into my chest.
But you wont find that setup anywhere else cheaper. And you should wait at least two weeks before you get an alignment.
If you have questions just ask me, I have done enough research on these for the both of us and asked tons of people on this thread. I think that these are the best coilovers for the weekend racer and enthusiast.

you wouldnt happen to know of any write up for the install on these coils would you? i just want to make sure everything is butter when it comes for install time.
and when i get an alignment, what exactly do i tell them to align?

pretty much. The backs are a pain to get off. I had to step on the bottom of the control arm and wiggle out the entire assembly at the same time.
I just paid off my rims so im waiting for a few more pay checks to get the coilovers.

exit 10, Auburn. when you get off and go through the toll, stay as far to the right side because the entrance is literally right after the tolls. and those stupid speedpass things make people think they can take the toll booth at 50. just a word of caution.
whats intense is how my car almost cut off my legs today when i was painting my calipers. Crushed my jack stand too... kinda my fault tho. Jack stand was on loose gravel.
