Default Dont trust Meineke

I went to Meineke to get a hanger welded to better support my HKS exhaust. So I waited for only bout 15 minutes. It was nice and quick and it looked good. Then I left and drove away. Got home and had to look at it 1 more time to admire the perfect fitment. Looked down and noticed the exhaust was sitting in the Rear Bumper. Thank god it was just part of the body kit and I can easily replace that. It melted a hole bout 3 inches thick and almost melted all the way through to the other side of the bumper. I was ____ed. I wondered what the hell went wrong. Looked under the car and realized the dumbass didnt even use the existing hanger that was on the exhuast. Instead he welded something to the frame of the car and then to the exhuast. WHAT a Problem. Never trust them. And another thing last year when I had my 3000gt they tried to get my wheel off and couldnt so they torched and dug up my damn rim. And if anyone knows 3000gts they know everything on them damn cars are expensive I was ____ed then and im ____ed now. Remember Meineke is NOT GOOD.

I dont ever go to these big chain corporations for service..

My good friends father owned a shop and he had nightmares about one of his service tecs not putting brake lines on right and the result was the death of a pregnant woman and he unborn child.

he woke up the next morning and sold his shop.

i will remembet this for the rest of my life, he told me this story and he was almost in tears...

and that is why i dont go ANYWHERE except for people i know do awesome work.

Actually, one of the Meineke's down here is one of the best custom exhaust shops in the state. Did great work on my friend's '67 'Stang and I've always highly recommended them.

Thats deep. And just because of that and what ive been through. Im no longer trusting them or any other corporation like that. Also dont trust Midas. My best friend worked there and I saw the crap they pulled. They half ___ things and take stuff off your car like a gas cap for example. They also put 4 quarts of oil in every car regardless if it takes 6 or 3. Ur right my man gotta watch out for them.

Default I know

Well I thought how hard could it be for them to weld on a simple hanger. They have a welder and I dont so I had to go to somebody. And there right next to where I live. So I didnt even think they could screw up on a simple task as welding a hanger. Lol well I guess they found a way.

Dang, I'd definitely fight to make them pay for that mistake. Speaking of places missing things up. My dealership put 5 qts of oil in my tC on her first 5k oil change. Never again will she go back there for minor servicing, I'll just change it myself...although its not free, atleast she won't screwed up!

Dont' trust Midas either. Took my last car there to get new brakes and they left them lose to "seat in". My car would inch forward at red lights with both feet on the brake pedal pushing down as hard as possible and was really difficult to stop. Scared me to death!

i go to meineke as much as need to cus i know the manager and hes the one that only touches my car, infact i drive it in and out, and stand under the car when they do stuff, they installed my HKS axle back cus i was impatient and it was pouring and didnt wanna get under my car, then i went back after i got the megan exhaust and they removed teh support bar for the exhaust for me for free, they did the rear hotchkis springs for me for free cus my spring compressor couldnt fit in the coils, and when i buy my apex-i muffler ill have them cut off the megan muffler and clamp on the apex-i cus i know he would probably do it for free for me again. and while im at it ill see if they can fix my exhaust leak cus im too lazy to go under my car. i have nothin but praise for the meineke down the street from me im actually thinkin about having them fab up a custom dual exhaust for me sometime down the road cus i know i would get a sick deal on it.

Never trust a large chain for custom exhaust work. Find a small shop you like and stick with them.

Meineke/Midas/CarX etc. are always crapshoots, simply because they're not one chain; they're a string of a dozen or so franchisees that own various amounts of stores in various geographic areas. Some may have excellent service, some are complete theives/morons. Even the chains of command are different, simply because of different ownership structures.

Also, they have such high turnover in their employees. One day you may have a meth head working on your car, the next he is nowhere to be found. Doesn't say much for accountability.

^^^

Very, very true. Although the turnover for automotive techs/service writers is high in general, the franchise chains are especially bad.

Well im no longer gonna put myself in a position like that again. Im gonna use better judgement and do it myself or if I cant find a mechanic that I know will do the job right. But all in all it happens, sucks it happened to me but it has to happen to someone. lol.

I worked at a Monro Muffler, we were one of the better shops in the area. Probably the best for custom exhaust. We did all of the Hot Rod shop's cars down the road. But... It was the people that worked at my shop that made all the difference. The Monro 5 miles down the road I wouldn't of taken a broke Red Wagon to.

Small shops can have idiots working for them too. The biggest thing I didn't like about Monro was how they wanted you to sell everything you could find wrong with the car. 2 ways to think about it, 1 theyre trying to squeeze every penny out of you or 2 its wrong and it DOES need fixed, whats wrong with trying to be the one to fix it.

I do all my own work, so I never had the experience of being a customer.
