I know this may sound stupid, but for about the past month or so i have been getting shocked by my XB everyday mulitple times. when it first started it was nothing bad but over the month it has got worse, about a week ago when i got shocked i started bleeding from underneth one of my fingernails. Then yesterday for some reason i was looking at the ignition hole while i tried to put the key in the ignition and i missed and i touched the area around the hole and when my key hit there was a blue spark i guess you could say and it has been doing that alot latly, anything like this happen to you guys? and would could it possibly be?

 

Mine shocks me too....winter dry air causing some static electricity build up.

 

enough electricity build up to cause someone to bleed, i mean that day was a bad day i have never been shocked so bad in my life before, but the thing that worried me the most was the blue spark at the ignition

 

seems the blue spark was more between two metal contact points that act as conductors for eachother, not really the ignition sparking

it happens to me too, here in Phoenix the air is so dry i get MAAADDD static in my pants and i get zapped everywhere.

 

yeah sorry should of been more clear about that, but still that shouldnt happen. any dangers to this or should i just not worry about it

lol, well i do have a few accessories downstairs. they have never zapped the jingelies tho. phew. the static just makes my leg hair raise and it feels wierd. water will take care of that tho. CAUTION, please do not go spraying water into your key hole on the inside of your car! lol

 

lol ill try not to, i guess ill just wait it out if the first comment is right then it should go away after winter, but who knows. i just know its starting to make me mad lol

 

Buy some static cling dryer sheets and rub your seats with them. Poof no more static electricy.

they shouldnt be hard to find, any supermarket or walmart will have them.

 

build your own grounding kit or buy one, do a search. We had a customer complain of this at my dealership with his camry i put in bigger ground wires and he hasnt come back.

This subject comes up every winter--although your situation sounds extreme.

 

yea i would have to say its pretty extreme, i just tired that static cling dryer sheets and that didnt work, im still getting shocked. so i guess my only other option is the bigger grounding kit or i could always try toyota and get my warrenty to covor it.

 

so you spend a few bucks on static sheets, its not a total loss. now you have them for your dryer.

Ya, i got zapped a few times. The one thing that I watch out for is that if you are getting zapped on a certain day, make sure your ground yourself before fueling your car. I got zapped at the pump but lucky for me it didn't light the fumes.

 

its gotta be a pretty good zap to light the fumes at the pump.
