Default Need help finding a place in the Philly area...

...to install TRD springs for me. I didnt really want to take my car to a dealership in fear that i may get ripped off. anyone know somewhere i can go that'll be relatively cheap compared to others? (while not sacrificing quality of work, obv). they can be in PA or NJ

thanks!!

get on the PA/NJ/DE thread, there's a bunch of us in the Philly area. I'm relatively new to the scene, but someone on there can probably tell you where to go.

yea thats allright, most the people in the se will help you for free or next to nothing to do the job, ive dropped 2tcs and plan on another one soon, ive done 4 xb's also. you can get the springs from 100-200 on ebay or online depending on the brand, and about 300-400 topps for the trd shocks online. if someone helps you it can be done for about 550$ so youll save 200-250$ depending on how good you are at finding deals
i got my hotchkis springs brand new for 80$ and the trd shocks were 220$ shipped so 300$ to drop the xb and it corners and handles very well.

i actually got the trd springs for free (i have a friend who used to work for toyota who still has connections)....i may buy the struts too. but i dont have the money right now. i just bought HIDs and the fog/grille package from vrd. i didnt wanna ask my friend to get those too, rather not push my luck.

am i really going to be doing that uch damage to the suspension by not doing the struts right now?

and hey rob, ed from that shop actually pm'ed me the other day. with a pretty reasonable price too. i may wind up going there. even though they are kind of far....(hour and change) thanks for the suggestion.

You will be so happy with the fogs/grills. They are my favorite things I've done to the car so far. As for the springs without shocks, I guess it all just depends...mileage, type of roads, etc. I've heard of people doing only springs and having no problems for some time, but you do run the risk of blowing your shocks.

yeah good point...since i got the springs for free, i guess it may be worth it to just invest in the shocks as well. if i can get them for a good price ill do it. id just rather keep it trd so i get the warranty.

hmm.

and yeah i cant wait for the vrd stuff to come in, what color grilles did you get?

Staying TRD is a good idea, especially if you have an extended warranty. I have the black grills, but every time I see the titanium, I like them more and more.

i dont have the extended one, but at least while my car is still under the fasctory warranty, i want what i put in to be covered too. question though...if i have this stuff installed by a toyota dealership, it'll cost more but does the warranty still only last 12mo or 12k miles or....is it until my 3/36000 warranty is up? i was always confused by this.

ha! and i ordered the titanium ones. i wasnt sure how theyd look on a SW, i didnt want too much chrome-y looking stuff, but i figured if i got them and decided i didnt like them, i can always just paint it black, yknow?

Post pics after you install the grills. As for the warranty, I'm not 100% sure either, but I've heard it is only a 12 mo. warranty.

i still havent called up toyota about the warranty...ill get around to it though.

as for the grilles. theyre black now...no titanium. i called them up and changed my mind. haha. i may clear coat them though so theyre more of a glossy black then the more dull-ish way they come. ig ot my fogs too...just have to get them installed. i wish i had time yesterday, perfect temp out to do it.

OH....and just to get back to what i originally posted in here. does anyone else know of another place around philly? b and e is still a major consideration of mine...but theyre pretty damn far away from me. (about an hour and a few)...anyone know a place closer to philly? or even on thej ersey side?
