Hey guys, I am thinking about creating subforums for the larger metro areas... that would allow better communication between people inside the metro areas and clear up the main regional area for people from outside the metro areas to chat.

Please answer the poll so I can get a clear idea of which members are inside and outside the metro areas.

Please reply to the topic with your thoughts of which metro areas deserve subforums and whether or not you think it would be a good idea.

We would be in between NY Metro and Nassau. 15 Minutes to the "City" or "The Island". I Voted Metro......being close to both is a good thing.

A pittsburgh/western Pa thread would be nice. We usually have three or four posts going on at all times in the NE forum anyway.

I agreew those other 2...Pittsburgh should have one. Maybe like a "Tristate Three Rivers Section" encompassing Eastern Ohio, Western Pa (Pittsburgh), and north WVa.

i don't know if this area has enough major cities, but we do have clear defined boundries between certain parts...(things like river crossing with a hefty toll cause these boundries...)

here are a few break downs to general areas i can think of...

north jersey
south jersey
long island
NYC
east pa
west pa
boston
west CT
east CT
RI

dgHotLava,

I don't want to break it up TOO much! Maybe 2-3 major metro areas to group most of the owners together, then a large regional area for everyone else.

Small changes... I'm not trying to freak everyone out again!

thats why these are SUB-forums...not re-aligning the sections.
just keeping some local things easier to get at.

i know, those were just some suggestions of areas we know to be distinct in the northeast.

if you want to get more general...

NY metro area---- (includes Staten Island, Long Island, the city, parts of north NJ, yonkers, westchester, rockland county....)

Boston, is not a good regional term for enough people...
try New England. (includes many parts with much in common)

Yes, the point would NOT be to break things down too far. If there is a large group from a certain geographical area then it would be nice to give them a place to chat and clear their "noise" from the rest of the region to help organize other regional meets, etc.

We don't need it broken down by city, neighborhood, street or cul-de-sac! I would MAYBE put a subforum of a metropolitan area into the mix.

It would be "Boston Metropolitan Area", not just Boston.

Well, I was going by the list of the top metro areas in the United States, and the Boston Metro area is ranked 11th, with 4.4 million people. That puts it ahead of San Francisco, Phoenix and Seattle. What are you basing your claim on, dgHotLava?

well, being from that no 1 spot everything else seems small...lol

i was basing it on my having been there.

trust me and try New England for that area.
at least put it in a new survey.
it will work.

At this point I would only create a NY Metro area... not enough response from the other areas. I'm gonna let this go a couple more weeks, though.
