in NJ it is illegal, it's an obstruction of view.
not something i can stop you for, but i'll nail you on it if i do stop you.
(animal skins, pink fuzzy dice and fake spinners are just asking to get something.)

Jeff...
In Ct it's llegal too, to have items hanging on your rear view mirror like in NJ.
As far as the Cheeta Skin Interior, fuzzy dice, and plastic spinners...
If I pull you over I'll plaace a DEP animal tag on your ear and release you into the woods.

Got a drunk question 4 all the police officers out there. I live in TX. and 1 night, while my bf, & I was coming back from a movie, we almost got hit by a speed demon  who was drunk. The driver was swerving in & out of the road & almost ran us off the road. My question 2 u is can an innocent by standard like me who can barely see over the dash call 911 w/the license # 2 have him chased down & beaten 2 death?
Ok maybe just arrested then?

yes, you can call 911 and give the plate and description of the car and where it is traveling.(please give as much info as you can)
no, you can't get them an ___ whopping, they've already done that on their own.
this is a great tool for people on the road to use. i get one of these from time to time.
even if i don't issue/arrest them, i can still hold them on the side of the road for some time.
don't take this as a go ahead to call for every little thing that irks you. (insert boy who cried wolf story)
so, please do call when needed.

The answer is Yes, absolutely yes.
Your observations of the drunk driver is "reasonable articuable suspicion" for a car stop. A written statement of your observations can be used as probable cause to effect an arrest, but i really don't need it if I can support a DUI on my own after stopping the car. The statement would be supplemental Probable Cause to support the arrest.
Of course the written statement comes after the car stop and so on. I don't have to wait on a statement in order to affect the car stop since it is un-reasonable to expect some one to give a sworn written statement in a mili-second so I can stop a car, and no I can't get sued for stopping a car based on bad information. I am protected by a reasonableness of Police Action based on information given.
In Ct we have whats called "Speedy Information", meaning we can effect an arrest with out a Warrant if I am with in the "scope time" of my investigation. So if I stop you and your drunk, your comming with me "no warrant needed".
Please feel free to call the Police and try to follow the vehicle as long as your not endangering yourself so that Police may track the vehicle with your info and stop the driver. We really like it when people get involved like that.

Dghotlava (NJ-Cop), and Xbmaniac (CT-Trooper) also reply to threads here and I fully suppoort them. Be advised that we may differ slightly in our answers. If so and you get confused let us know what state youlive in so that we can disucc it and reach a conclusion that we all agree on.

This might be a basic question...but here I go:
On saturday I was driving my car for about 20 minutes and after a while I noticed I didnt have my wallet on me. I was too far to go back home and get my wallet so I decided to just "Take a risk". My questions is...If I get pulled over and the officer asks me for my license and registration and I don't have my license...what do they do?? What if I was in another state (for example was driving in NJ and my license was issued by NY DMV)??
Thanks!
