Default sxt-hunttokill / Muffler

Sxt-hunterkiller............

The Trooper is making comments about your muffler based on his own personal experience, and or judgement. Did he use a decibal meter to check your muffler ?
If not then it's a judgement call. You have a right to dispute it of course.

If you feel that your muffler is in compliance then go to DMV and have them run a decibal check on it. If it passes they will give you a slip with the decibal readings so that if in the future you get stopped you got your papers. Same with your tints (tint sticker)

Sorry you had a bad experience with the Trooper, there are a million reasons why he may have been in a bad mood that had nothing to do with you.

Default Car search

Hey, how ya doin'? I got pulled over for speeding once. 80 in a 50. I can understand the ticket, I had no problem with that. The cop asks to search the car. I permitted. But then he has a back up car come, and then they throw the dog in my car. The dog is in my front seat, back seat and trunk. They didn't ask if the dog could go in. What if I was allergic to dogs? Is this normal?

PS~ If I said "no" to him searching, what could have or would have, happened

Thanks in advance...

Default Denstyr / Searches

Denstyr....

In a case of working off of no Probable Cause.........

If a Cop asks you for permission to search, you have every right to refuse or grant the search.
As far as the back up goes, it is customery to have a back up because the searching Officer is exposed to an attack. The back up Officers works on security for the searching Officer.
The dog issue is weird though. Did they just let the dog riffle through your car with out it hitting on anything? Usually (atleast where I work) the dog works from outside to the inside. If the dog doesn't hit then the dog doesn't go inside. This could be a Department Policy or Training Standard. I really wouldn't know because I am not a K-9 Officer myself.

Remeber "You can refuse even after you granted permission". If you decide to change your mind, then let the Officer know to stop immediatly. Or you can allow a search but tell them not to let the Dog into your vehicle.

If the Cop has no P.C. and the Dog doesn't hit on anything then they must listen to you.

On a case of property damage (including Fuzzy Dice) have the Cop make a police report and document any damage to your vehcile. The report should have the same case number as your car stop.

There was no Probable Cause. Unless 3 guys in a car is probable cause. He asked to search and I said yes. Then he asked if there was anything in here, and I said I have firecrackers in the ashtray. He said that's fine. Other than that, nothing...

BTW, there was nothing in the car, the dog didn't hit on anything, and luckily no damage was done... other than my hundred-something dollar ticket...

I really wouldn't know. It could be a misperception on your behalf, a true bias by police. Can't really answer that.

Well, thanks for your input on the situation. I was just wonderin' if that was normal. It was years ago and doesn't matter anymore, and since you don't mind getting these stupid questions I thought I'd see your thoughts on it. Thanks Again!

man I've been having a lot of break-ins in my neighborhood. . . thieves goin for stereos, etc, no actual thefts of the vehicles themselves.

hehehe. . . another question I'm sure all of us have pondered at least once:
If I catch one of these idiots, am I entitled to "defend" my property  ? I mean, in all honesty, if I called the cops they wouldn't be able to respond in time. Besides, with the amount of crime here, it's not going to be a priority.

I always carry my Kubaton (legal) if you are familiar with those, and I know how to effectively use it. . . I just don't want to be sued by these idiots.

Btw, I just moved into this town, and we've already had 6 break ins, 1 rape, 2 armed robberies, and domestic violence call where someone was hospitalized (they are getting evicted). If I could permanently get rid of these guys  I would, but there's the law. You probably know that the slap on the wrist these guys would get, would mean that they would be hunting me down when they get out of jail, if they get out.

Do you have a right to defend your property ? Hell yea !!!!

Just make sure that your actions do not supersead the circumstances.

Example : Someone trying to break in your home while your in it. "Free game"

Now if they flee and you chase them down the street and then give them a beat down be ready to get arrested. You have now turned into a attacker not in imminent danger of your own saftey since you have pursued the individual in order to inflict retribiution.

The law has many interpretations based on circumstances of the incident.

Please don't bomb me with "What if" questions. It will never stop. Ha Ha

PS I got a sticker on my door saying "No Dog here", "Beware of my gun".

I have heard that cops can't right tickets to or arrest their neighbors. They have to call another officer to make a report. Seems logical to me. Just wondering if this is true.

If so, what radius does the term "neighbor" describe?

Not True-----Partially.

If I am a Police Officer working in the scope of my duties I can enforce any Law if so required.

However there are situations to avoid...To name a few

1-Using my Police Powers to handle a Civil Matter between my neighbor and me
2-Avoid any conflicts of interest (favoritism between neighboring parties)
3-Giving out a ticket / arrest when I'm the complaintant. (Bias)

Hey eddie!

I was just curious. I'm 19 years old, and I was wondering if I was pulled over with alcohol in my trunk (sealed) what would happen? If I was the only one in the car. I was just thinking about this the other day and I figured I'd ask the expert
