ok thanks

i basically need to figure out what type of amp (2 chan, mono, class d) i should use, if i should bridge an amp, and how much power the amp should put out to the sub for best results.

i know that the 4500 use a power max of 100 watts RMS (200 watts peak power), i just dont know what kind of amp will best pair with it... ( is i need a 400w max amp or a 200w max amp so i dont blow them)

no one ever really told me how to do this kind of stuff... i just kinda guessed and under estimated power so i didnt blow my current system :-p

RMS is the constant power (for lack of a better term)

MAX is the absolute peak power that a sub can take in one instance.

so if you are going to run 2 4500 subs (100/200 rms/max) you're going to want an amp that can put out roughly 100watts rms per channel, and would peak out at about 200watts perchannel.

make sense? (no)

okay so here goes......

you dont want to under power a sub. that will do more damage than over powering one. the 4500 takes 100watts rms, putting a 25watt rms amp on it will kill it. putting a 500watt rms amp on it will kill it too.

be careful of "power ratings" on amps. It might say 1600watts, but it only puts out about 450rms lol. Pyramid/pyle/boss are all famous for it. thats why you see it sold at flea-markets.

so for the infinity sub that has a 250 RMS and 1000 max

the 1300 would be good b/c it has a
# RMS Power Rating:
* 2 ohms: 300 watts x 1 chan.
# Max power output: 342 watts x 1 cha

but, that would be good for 1 sub correct?

but looking at the amp, it has 4 ports for sub hookups (2 pos and neg outs)
so would hooking 2 sub at 2 ohms to the 4 ports (1 pos and 1 neg per sub) be sufficent power? or wuld i need something more or less?

nah, there fine. im just looking for a better setup, and just trying to get all the facts straight for a new setup..

im gonna be selling my subs and the amp...

my current setup is this:

Pioneer GM-3300T
2-Channel Amplifier
# RMS Power Output:
* 4 ohms: 60 watts x 2 channels
* 2 ohms: 75 watts x 2 channels
* Bridged, 4 ohms: 150 watts x 1 channel

with 1 sub per channel at 4 ohms:
Pioneer TS-W251R
Power Handling:
* 120 Watts RMS
* 600 Watts Peak

so right now you're running each sub at about 60 watts? yikes. no wonder you're looking to upgrade. How about bridging the 2 subs. Of course you're going to be running the subs down at 2 ohms, but you're going to get better results.

* your amp might not handle being bridged at 2ohms well. it may overheat, and cause a small forest fire. okay, so it wont cause a forest fire, it will shut down before that happens.

rofl.

i still dont understand 1 thing... if it's a 1 channe amp, and has hookups for 2 amps, is it splitting the power between the subs? or is it sending the same power out to both subs?

so say it's 300 Watts for 1 channel, dose 300 watts go to both subs or dose 150 go to both subs?

if its a 1 channel amp, it will be putting out whatever the rms wattage is at said ohm load...

explain....

i have a 400 watt RMS (at 4 ohm)mono sub amp. I am wiring up 2 4ohm subs, dropping ohm load down to 2ohms. Amp is going to roughly put out 500watts rms to the subs.

eh? eh? eh?

sooo, your saying if i had 2 subs at 4 ohms in parallel with an rms of 250w each, the amp you are describing would blow them or would it be sufficient power?

(all in theroy... i get what you meen now, but i still dont understand if the watts are split between the subs or if the subs get the full ammount per sub.. i know the amp will put the 500 out no matter what, so i assume that the 500w is split so that each sub is getting 250w rms to total the 500w)

okay.... trying to decipher it.......

are the subs originaly 4ohms each, or did you wire both subs to equal 4 ohms?

in theory, you'd want an amp that can push 500watts at said ohm load.
