No, they're not.

Understand what they're for before saying what they aren't.

Vince, I do believe that the finalists are selected by a photography panel anyway, so I don't think votes have very much to do with anything.

haha see it pays to have a dvd player in your car.....i hear ya but jury duty should be fun as long as its an interesting case.

I liked my Canon Digital Rebel XT. Almost bought it again as the Circuit City in Lawerenceville had an open box for about $320

Budget and capability wise, I would suggest the Canon Digital Rebel XTi / 400D

Though, you can't go wrong with any DSLR.. Be it Canon or Nikon. I use a Canon, the 300D (Digital Rebel).

The general rule of thumb is "Get the latest Canon or Nikon you can afford."

thats the camera nick (krdshrk) recommended also...one of my friends back home in PA is a photographer and he suggested the nikon d40...anybody have any experience with that one?

Canon Rebel XTi.

I'm a Canon guy. I own an XT, but recommend the latest version, which is the XTi. Tell him to check out the Photography-on-the.net forums. You can usually find some good deals in the classifieds.

I prefer canon's. They're pretty easy to use. Plus I can show Kristine how to use it properly.

the 1st is a power shot... it's not a true SLR camera... (cant change the lense) correct me if im wrong but i belive thats it.
