Shan if you go like 20 you will get pulled over in a heart beat in my area but at 30 or 35 you shold be fine.
Shan, I've only been hassled once for my tint and it was only a secondary charge that I wouldn't have been messed with over had I not been doing other asshattery things in the Applebees parking lot (shouts to B-Rad!) 
The Scion tC isn't a car that arouses suspicion of law enforcement. I've even been complimented by cops (in Philly) regarding the appearance of my car with the tint. Though things are different in the 'burbs, you just have to assume the risk if you want tint. If not 15% atleast go with 20%.. it really makes the blue tC look hot.
