I'm getting sick and tired of this crap about our thread getting deleted. I remember last time when it got deleted the MOD said oh we weren't on topic about scions or something but the thing is the thread that we created is considered general discussion basically off-topic. Blah the MODs are being seriously ____ right now.

sorry. somebody decided to use foul language in the thread, and i had to move it to the mod lounge. I tried to remove the offending posts, but the entire thread was so large the server couldn't handle it. I'll bring it back if we can get it cleaned up, but I can't make any promises.

want to hold out, or start a "NEW NEW NEW NE chat thread?"

 

or or or... you just bring it back and dont clean it up bc it was affending anyone. or did that first amendment just get blown off of freedom of speech

 

The specific post does violate the rules we all agreed to when we signed up.

Believe it or not, this is a private site run by a private party, and as such, rules and filters are completely legit.

 

What was the exact post? Bc like a week ago there was like no filter Rob cursed like a million times (hilarious) and i know i said bltch today however the lovely filter caught it

 

The censorbot does try to catch some of the language, but there is no way it can catch all of it. Most of the handling of folks breaking the rules is done purely manually by mods who spend hours trying to keep things reasonable.

As to the "First Amendment" freedom of speach complaint, it is best to actually know something about it before complaining.

("Freedom of Speech" is not a term that applies to any private site that allows posting by members. The US First Amendment only applies to not allowing the US government to censor most speech. As soon as you step into a private site like this, you are in someone else's livingroom, not in a public space, and the owner - the person paying the bills - can set any rules they want and a poster can either agree or leave. No problem, but just trying to correct an all too common error of perception about the internet. Also note that if any site is not in the US, the rules can change drastically...)

What rules? The ones you can refer to at the top of the page by clicking the [RULES] button. Those are the general rules. You even agreed to follow them before you were ever allowed to post here...



BTW, I heartily recommend that you read the rules while you still can...

this is typical stuff in our thread at least one a month. A mod/super mod stops by deletes stuff for no reason that wasnt bothering anybody. Yes we all curse, in everyday talk and online but thankfully for that censor bot its caught.
Directly from Wikipedia-Freedom of speech is the concept of being able to speak freely without censorship.
its just typical that this happens, were not bothing anyone or calling anyone out and this happens yet again for what a fourth, fifth or maybe sixth time. Now you know its big when Tomas has stepped in. Your a legend here on Scionlife lol

 

So I don't know anything about this SE/NE (or whatever it is) thread stuff... but what I can tell you is that the "first amendment" crap you guys are complaining about is BS... just like Tomas pointed out. There are rules. You all agreed to abide by them. And violating them has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not you're offending or bothering anyone. If you break the rules, it's breaking the rules. Plain and simple.

Like cherry said, they're trying to clean it up... but honestly if the thread keeps getting out of hand over and over and people aren't getting it... maybe it shouldn't be there at all.

 

Freedom of speech applies to speech in public areas, not in private.

For example I can stand on the street corner and say pretty much what I want, even yell obscenities, within reason, but as soon as I step into your livingroom, it's by your rules. If you say I am not allowed certain types of expression in your house, my choice is to follow your rules or be tossed out.

Follow the rules you agreed to follow or leave.

Arguments about "Freedom of Speech" do not apply in private spaces owned by others.

so maybe we can just created a new thread everyday each one of us so thats like ok 20 new threads 30 days in a month 12 months in a year thats alot of new threads everyday.

i understand this is a private site and all and were restricted on some of the words but why do the threads keep gettin deleted? If we had a mod on our site everyday delete the stuff thats bad it solves it all. I know some of us have asked to be a mod b4 and are denied
