There's two parts to this, and it goes on all weekend. There's a car show at Green Hill Park during the day with hundreds of cars (street rods, muscle cars, tuners), then it all moves down to the Crown Plaza Hotel in downtown Worcester at night. They close part of main street, and have a burnout competition, stunt bikes, flame throwing cars and trucks - several blocks are fenced in, and you have to pay to get in, but there are small grandstands to watch the burnouts, live bands, and most all of the cars from the daytime shows are at the hotel or just cruising the streets.
Cops have been cracking down on complete stupidity past few years, but for a while it was 'anything goes' in the streets of downtown Worcester. Race cars driving around with open headers, bikes, cars, four wheelers, all doing burnouts anywhere and everywhere - they started giving tickets just last year though for burnouts in the street though, for safety reasons. It's nuts.

Yeah Summer Nationals are a good time. Worcester is really cracking down this year tho - so I hear - because of so much damage caused last year they actually lost money on the event due to the cleanup/repairs.
Maybe we could get a group to go and cruise around - it is sometimes more fun just go chill in the parking lots and drive around and see the cars that are not entered in the actual show/burnouts.
When are people planning to go - it looks like the weather may hold out for the weekend.

They arent losing money cause the event is paid for by Moskoffeans(SP?) towing
My plan is for Saturday night
hey guys, scratch that. I actually will be unable to make it to Summer Nationals this year - just got a job offer (got the call this evening) and need to go look for apartments this weekend
Have fun though!

Have fun though!
It's always fun to drive down there early on Sunday morning, the last day, and see how much rubber is laid down in the streets. Not in the official burnout area by the tunnel, but in the streets in the surrounding area.
One of the 'unofficial' burnout areas is Prescott Steet, behind the Courtyard hotel on Grove Street. People sit out in the hotel parking lot in beach chairs with coolers for hours - the street is covered with rubber by the end of the weekend, the entire length of the hotel parking lot. These guys aren't doing stationary burnouts there, they're going through the gears to see who can go the longest - some in pro street cars. If you drive by and DON'T light em up (or wheelie if you're on a bike), they want to kill you lol.
Don't know if the cops will be squashing that this year, but this is the kind of thing they don't want going on; someone will inevitably get hurt or killed. Like I said before, they've only really cracked down on extreme stupidity in the past - for the most part, they're very cool about the whole thing, and let a lot of stuff slide that you'd normally get slammed for.

If anyone is going down thursday night I could probably swing by if a group is meeting up. Lemme know!

Don't worry Ted, they put the 84 percenters on subs off the shore of North Korea. As long as we're out of blast range, I have no problem with glowglow.....I mean davedave working with nukes.
the 84 is not out of 100 it means i scored 84% higher then anyone else i took the test which is very good, they told me right there on teh spot that my average was high enough that i could become a nuclear engineer if i wanted to, i looked into it and found out its actually a very good field to go into. i still have more tests to take but so far thats what im leaning towards....
but a B doctor is better then a C doctor.... and a B isnt bad
