Default Anyone heard of Sparky Malarkey's?

Hi folks,

Has anyone heard of or eaten at a BBQ joint called "Sparky Malarkey's?"

Supposedly, they have really good pulled pork, and ribs. (Their Beef Brisket supposedly isn't that great)

I've been trying to find a place with good BBQ but it's tough in the South Bay. (Chilli's ribs are ok, but not great)

They are located on Coleman Ave just south of the San Jose airport.

Yeah, they are right next to my favorite retailer of all time, The Wine Club, so I went there a few times. Agree with you on pulled pork (good) and beef brisket (so-so).

Texas Smokehouse corner of Capitol/Story behind the gas station....best I've EVER had!
Back to you...never heard of Sparky's but it's in my area so sounds like I have to go give it a try!

Texas Smokehouse, great food and cooked right in front of you on their grill they keep in the front. Just no parking at all.

Ed I think Sparky Malarkey's is an old wooden building that is across the street from the costco.

Speaking of Brazilian BBQ, where is one in the Bay Area??
I always have it in Jersey, Chicago, LA and even in Aruba but can't find one here....

I like the places where I can see BBQ cooking in front of you (or at least a smoker with smoke coming out if it...). When i went to Smokey Malarkey's, i felt weird sincei could not find any smoke or smell.... (maybe they have it in the back....)

Default Been there many times, good stuff

First, my xB is due any day now. ordered last weekend in Sunnyvale. Black, standard transmission, destined for some computer hackery. Just signed up, this is my first post...

I've been to Sparky Malarkey's many times. They're in the old Coleman Still building, which is an odd-looking old wooden thing as someone else described.

Here's a review I wrote on Yahoo Local a few weeks back:
http://local.yahoo.com/details?id=33391708

They've been open for 2 months now. Ironically, the brisket is something they're working on specifically (had that for lunch today, it's getting there...), but they definitely take constructive feedback. For such a young place, the food is really good and the rest is coming along.

Try the hot barbecue sauce. They make both versions of their sauce from scratch, and the hot has a definite Thai influence. Cut it with the "regular" sauce if you must.

Expect to see a black xB in the parking lot frequently later this month...

Ok, just went there (saturday)

Had their pulled pork and baked beans. Not bad.

Too bad they're only open to 8 on weekdays.

Oh well
