Default Citation Question

My girl is freaking out because she drove my car and got a citation for my tints and no front plate. Does anyone know whether the courtesy notice goes to the Driver's license address or the registered owner's address?

The back says, "The court will mail a courtesy notice to the address on the citation..." however it does not specify as to which address. Just want to clear this up, as, once again, my girl is freaking out.

It goes to the registered car owner, thats what happened last time to me. They go off the vehicle plate address

No worries man. It's just a 10-20 dollar ticket after you get it signed off anyway. You can go into the court house anytime and get it taken care of before the date on the bottom of the ticket.

I'm not sure about citations, but when my friend got a speeding ticket in my car, it was mailed to his house.

I think thats because it was tied to his lic. I think a speeding ticket is different than a tint ticket.

wow thats a lot of mixed experiences. I'm hoping it goes to my address since I don't want her parents seeing the citation.

In my head, I'm thinking it should be going to my house, just because the courtesy notice should be telling the CAR OWNER that it got a ticket... but that's me and the law is messed up like that.

Imma say, it would be your address and not hers. Reason being you are the rightful owner of the car and it wasn't a driving violation. Shes lucky though, Cali cops usually make you pull off the tint on the spot from what I heard.

If they got her DL number they just look at her address and send it to her....if they just grabbed your license plate number it will go to you....

Never heard that and never had that happen, although I had a friend who had multiple tint tickets and finally a cop saw that and put a razor to one of his tinted windows (put a fat X on it). I had two tint tickets for previous cars because I never changed the tint and all they did was give me the ticket, send me the notice and then I just removed it, got it signed off on and paid $10.

I am 99% certain it goes to your address, before I bought my previous car I got pulled over (the area was strict about cars that were lowered and slightly modified) the guy got a fix a ticket for several violations and the only thing I got was a ticket for not having a copy of his insurance (I was driving it to smog while he was at work and couldn't find it in his glove box.) They said it wouldn't go to me since I'm not the registered owner and I'd only get the ticket for the insurance issue.

So I think you should be in the clear, they should go by the car because it is a car violation and not a driving violation (like speeding is, which would be tied to the driver).

Dude.. your in Jersey. Here on the other side of the state it goes to the cars registered owner. If it's something that the driver does like speed or wreckless driving then it goes to the driver. But something like tint, no front plate or a broken tail light goes to the register owner.

On the other side of the country I would assume you mean and maybe thats how it is there but in jersey thats how they do it. And there are other states that do that as well. If you are driving a car you are help responsible for it....ie tints

That's usually how mine have been that I got on my S10 but remember that ticket I was telling you I got by Santa Clara sheriff? Front plate not securely mounted and tinted tails? I just got it in the mail and it says $207 plus correction! WTF!?!

And then yesterday I got a window tint ticket in san Jose by CHP and he put on it CVC 24004 which means I have to take it off and leave it off because if I get pulled over with it on there again it's a moving violation!
