well... it's okay if he's asking if he needs help in installing it, i guess.. but yea... you should just really search and read around what other people say.

save you the trouble of noob bashing elsewhere.

fri, the usual consensus navigates towards injen.. and sometimes fujita

Yeah Fujita and Injen are the popular ones among here. Unless you want to spend extra money and time, I would go for the TRD just b/c its carb exempt, meaning you will pass visuals when you get a smog test or if you get pulled over by a cop and he checks your engine and see the CAI, they can't do anything. Your lucky though the price of CAIs have been dropping lately, there around $230 in the sponsors classified I believe.

You coulda stated that fact just a little bit nicer gangster.

Lalapalooza ~ Look for a short ram/CARB legal.

If you really don't care about smog stuff, buy whatever's pretty. If you're a cheapskate like I am, keep the whole "CARB legal" thing in the forefront of your mind when deciding.

I ended up going through four different intakes before settling on an Injen CARB legal short ram and forgetting about it. That way you can move on to your next mod! =)

Good luck, and try not to be bothered by negative responses, or even less-than-useful responses. Someone will offer you the correct information, either directly, or at least where to start your research.

Injen doesn't make a CARB legal intake for tCs =/. The TRD CAI or the K & N intake which uses th stock airbox are the only ones that are carb exmept.

k&n make an intake that looks like its just the top portion of the stock airbox with an aluminum tube that is carb legal. doesn't look as nice as their regular one but at least its legal.

here you go. this is what it looks like.

K&N gives you around 4 HP, while Injen gives you double the HP. Fujita? Well, I haven't researched into that yet. Either way, you wanna go HP and ignore carb crap or the other way around. Ultimately, you're the one who is gonna have it under the hood! Goodluck.

I wouldn't say 4+ more hp is going to make any noticeable difference. I would agree with your last statement though. It is going to be your intake so the decision is yours.

i dont think the trd cai is carb legal. i have it and from past experience, a carb legal part usually has a number on it that cops or smog techs can use to look up in a database and the trd cai does not have this. atleast mine does not.

The thing is the 07 and 08 TRD CAI's are the same thing I believe. Like you can put an 08 CAI in an 07 tC. Well if I am correct about that, than it should be carb exempted according to this.

http://arb.ca.gov/msprog/aftermkt/de...o/D-425-21.pdf

which makes it carb exempt, but only if the 08 TRD CAI's fit on an 07, which I think it does, but not quite sure...

afaik, the TRD CAI for the xB has been produced to be CARB exempt.... however, there isn't and i for sure haven't seen any updated version of a TRD CAI for the tC that is CARB exempt.

if it fit's an '08.. it'll fit an '07

but... there's really nothing in existence that i've seen that does and is CARB exempt.
