Default Dealership for S/C Install

Anyone know of which dealerships in the San Jose area will do the supercharger install, and for how much? Also, has anyone bought one from sparks or mcgeorge and had it installed by a dealer in the area?

I've been checking with all of the dealerships in the bay area, best I've heard so far is $650 for the installation. That's at Fremont Toyota. Unless I can find it for under $500, I'll probably end up doing it myself.

650? yeah that's not going to happen. it's a 6 hour install. most bay area shops charge well over 100 per hour.

Is tax included already into installation costs? Or is that extra above the $650?

Labor does not get taxed, only parts. I would still have Dave at stevens Creek do it. Just so I can come over and see the install. :D

Steven's Creek Scion had said they hadn't done any before. I'm not going to let my car be a dealership's guinea pig with the rates they want. I have a friend in Morgan Hill who has everything in his garage that I could possibly need to do it, or at any Military base with a hobby shop, it usually costs $3 an hour to rent a stall with a lift and use of any tools. Either of those options sounds better to me.

I would trust Dave at stevens creek even if he didn't install one before. Its really gonna be hard to find someone that has done it already since the SC hasn't really been out for a bit here in Norcal. If you do it at home, I wish you all the best. Post pics when your done. :D I still want to see it.

I know a few peeps who installed the SC themselves, but they don't live in this area.

Hmm, maybe try PM'ing Aaron (OutCrnrU). He's up in Roseville and has the SC in his tC. He won Best tC at JDM Theory on sunday.

When I finally order my SC, I will order from TRD Sparks ($2950 + shipping and no taxes).

City Toyota (Daly City) has flyers all over their parts and service center that says $3920 installed (before taxes of course). If they are charging the normal $3200 for the SC, that's a $720 install charge.

Any other SC install quotes?

Where you planning to get it installed at?
I'm thinking about ordering from TRD Sparks, but not sure about installation yet.

honestly, there are only two mechanics that i will trust to work on my car:

Dave at Stevens Creek (yes, despite him never doing one before, i would gladly volunteer)

and Ryan (aka Redbaron) that works at Cabe Toyota/Scion.. (which is in LA).. he says he can install one in 3 hours, he's that good (but he's done a few already)

pretty sure Dave can do it, and he'll get faster as he does more... just haven't been really much demand up here in Norcal.

but if i were me and had the money right now, i'll be driving down to LA for Ryan

I don't know where I will get it installed. I figure I'll cross that bridge when I get there. I'll call around and ask the service departments how many supercharger installs they've done. Or I can just settle for Dave at Steven's Creek. Sounds like a man with a good reputation.

Anyone else have experience at other dealers?

ya, i would go to red baron as well... he a tC genius.. but if not, i WOULD NOT recommend installing it yourself, otherwise they prolly will not warranty it right? and that defeats the purpose of the S/C

I just came back from getting my 15,000 mile service at City Toyota in Daly City. I asked if their service department had ever done a SC install. The guy said they have a single tech who has done ONE install on an RS1 sitting on the showroom floor. Wouldn't be my first choice for SC install.
