I've had my XB since June 2003 and have never had a front licence plate.

I got pulled over once around Sept 03 and got a $10 fix it ticket.
Then the cop asked me all kinds of questions about my car because
he had never seen one before. I think he pulled me over just to ask
me questions about my car. Jackass!

I velcroed the plate on to get the ticket written off.

I've had my box since Jan 04 and have been ticketed three times for the front plate.

yes. it's illegal and i've been pulled for it.

oh and the plate in the windsheild makes them more likjely to pull you over than no front at all. suppossedly it can decapitate you in a car accident.

I hate the whole front plate crap, especially since not all states require you to have one. It makes you wonder why some states feel its important while others don't.

On a seperate note, I wonder how the new Pontiac Solstice owners are dealing with this problem. I mean just look at that car - there is no where to even put a front plate!!

More like having a sharp metal frisbee flying thru your car.

The reason CA requires them is so that they can make $$ with camera enforcement. En-farce-ment is more like it...

I've been pulled over 4 times without one and they didn't even bother to look at my front bumper.

I would assume on the front bumper like most other cars. they do have front bumpers.

well -there's no flat, mountable area to 'hang' it on

as for my front plate - i zip tie it on the front for long drives, then take it off for my area - it really depends on the area

*knock on wood*

I dont have front plates on either.... most cops are cool with it unless you are driving like a nutcase or in an area where Cops are **** like in San Rameo or something (some cops looks for reasons to stop you if they have an attitude).

definately in CA you will want to have some way to mount your plate on the front of your car whether drilling into the bumper or using zip ties, double-sided tape, velcro, whatever holds on good.

i hadn't thought of mounting it to the grill before, that sounds like it might be sufficient to keeping that smooth bumper intact

it doesnt need a flat spot to attach it. many cars have rounded noses and have a plate , like miata , or intrepid , just have a bracket.

you can always drill it through the middle. I dont know if Cali law will consider it as defacing the lisense plate.

i know they have a mounting bracket made for the tCs... very good, and i know many people on hawaii have them... uhh.. eight08customs has them (that's why)... just make sure and scream at the dealer before they drill those holes...

A LOT of dealers drill the bumpers as soon as the car gets to their lot .

^^ yup... you just gotta be really quick and make sure that doesn't happen... more probable if you ordered one and told them beforehand, i suppose..
