Default need help - looking at switching my wheel set out

I知 obviously new to the idea of modifying my wheels. With that being said, I need said help.

Now that I知 looking into switching my wheels out, I would like to keep my existing stock tires that came with my car from the dealer, at least for now. But, I知 un-sure of the exact sizing I should be looking for if I want to make a straight swap out. I知 assuming not much would change. I知 just un-sure of size.

Also, can anyone make any recommendations of sites or actual places based on their own buying experience that I should look into? Web-sites? Based on pricing, quality, shipment, etc, etc.? Appreciate the help and the time. Thank you and I hope I made some damn sense.

get some 17x7 or 17x8 rims if u want to use the stock tires. im on some 17x8 rims right now with the stock tires and its fine. a lil stretched out but not bad. u might even be able to go 17x8.5 on the stock tires but i think that would be pushing it.

as for websites i would check out places like tirerack.com or edgeracing.com.

good luck.

Site regarding wheels or rims?

Tirerack for tires and as for rims... it depends on what your looking for an how much.

When I had bought rims, I had 2 tires from my stock swapped out and mounted onto the new rims and had to buy 2 new Kumho Ecsta(? forgot) tires (this is why you should rotate your wheels...). Anyways it costs me $400ish for the swap and 2 tires + 20 standard lugs. Seems expensive but they have to unmount the old tires, mount the new ones, and balance the wheels and the rest is labor. I had my work done at auto innovation in Milpitas. It's right next to PrecisionMuffler (Gabe's shop). My wheels were bought from wheeldude in Fremont, they mostly just sell linear coarse? and Rotas. Hoped that helped.

Well, you didn't tell us what model Scion you have. I looked at some of your previous posts, and if I'm correct, you have an xD. The xD came stock with 16" wheels, so you will need to get 16's (not 17's) if you want to swap your stock tires onto a new set of wheels. You also want to make sure the new wheels have a 5x100 lug pattern. Since the stock tires are 195/60-16 I would try to stay with wheels in the 16x6.5 to 16x7 size range.

Here's a picture of an xD on 16" tC wheels:

Since you live in the bay area, I would recommend looking at Discount Tire first:

If you like anything they have, you can go to a local America's Tire Co. for purchase & installation.

Yeah it is a Scion xD, sorry I forgot to put the model of vehicle. I like the fact that you can visually see the rims on the car to help you with your decision making. Any other suggestions on web-sites or physical places I should visit in the broad Bay Area would be appreciated. Thanks a lot for all the replies.

If you like the tC wheels, here's a screaming deal for you. About halfway down this page:

Might be a dumb question, but the 08 scion xd (which I have) came with the following stock tires:

Wheel Size: 16 x 6 inches

Tire Size: 195/60 R16

If I get the 17" tC rims above in this post, do you think I'll be able to keep my existing stock tires and fit the 17 rims on them without a huge problem? Thanks for the advice.

Your 16" tires will absolutely NOT work with 17" wheels.

The guy in the above picture wanted to keep his OEM 16" tires also.
Apparently in mentioning the tC wheels in that post, nothing was said about them not being 16's.
If they're 17's, then I find that posting quite misleading. Sorry for the confusion, I'll go back to the xB2 forums now.

Here's the original thread I took the picture from (see the first post):

www.tirerack.com gives you a pretty good visual of the car on the wheels. All those other sites cionide posted are very good resources as well.

If you want to keep your 16" tires, you'll have to get 16" wheels. If you want 17" wheels, you'll have to buy 17" tires to match. I personally would go with 17" wheels at least.

Note: tC stock wheels are 17x7 +42 with 215/45-17 tires.
