Default Silver Box in S.F. with an AWD emblem: What's the deal?

I have spotted the same silver xB in San Francisco a few times now, it has a roof rack, roof box, and probably upgraded wheels. The box has a AWD sticker attached to the left rear of the hatch.

What gives? I saw this one again today and have to know if it's a Scion Life member and whether or not they have hooked up a JDM all wheel drive kit or whether they just use the emblem to get by the cops up at Tahoe without chains?

If you're on the site, let me know what's up and I'll try to catch up and say hello next time I see you!

Cheers, Al

Only if it's right hand drive.

The first thing that came to mind was chains in Tahoe.

I don't know...I saw a Ford F-150 with a XS Energy drink sticker on the tailgate by the OEM emblem....YOu know how some people get sticker happy...LOL.

Do the Tahoe area cops really nab you if you don't have AWD or chains? I know in Tucson, going up Mt Lemmon, they check at the base of the hwy...how do they do it there?

and I believe the exhaust exits on the left side of the bumper instead of the right when it is AWD. I could be wrong. It's been a while since I looked at this.

When you head up to Tahoe on the seriously storming condition days, there are checkpoints where the cops make sure you either have AWD with snow tires (they just wave you by if you're in a Subaru hehe) or tell you to pull over and put some chains on if you're FWD or RWD.

Wish the owner of this car would check out SL and tell us if he made the conversion to AWD. That would be pretty slick! But whatever way you look at it, his car is a conversation starter.

that would be a crazy conversion, a complete re-end assembly installed on an xB. nice.
