So long Stevens Creek Scion, for now

So last Friday was the last day of the Stevens Creek Scion Service center. A lot of us know that Dave Gille was the person running the show there and even had his schedule altered to have any scion owners come in late on Friday nights for help on their cars, advise or just to hang out. Because of Lay offs at Stevens Creek Toyota, Mr.Gille's master tech services are needed back at the HQ. So I was one of the lucky few that were able to see his last day at the service center, designed only for scions. I am also one of the lucky few who saw this place open up as well.
Take care Dave Gille, I am gonna miss that couch!
Dave Gille open for business for the last time, for now.

Dave is by far one of the greatest guys in Nor-Cal. He always helped even if you didn't ask he was there for you. The shop will be missed but having Dave there to hang out with and answer questions and letting us pick his brain is the biggest loss to the scion community.Dave you know we are all here for you and if you ever need anything you have all our phone numbers just call and we will be there for you like you were there for us

yea, i've been hanging out there for a good 3 years... he has and will always be my mentor. without him, much of the information that's in my head would probably not be there.
with the amount of downsizing i have heard the past few days, it was not surprising that despite the work that i have done there officially for the past year (yes... i do actually work sometimes).. and the amount of respect i have gained from fellow salemen (there were very few i really admired as the rest were the "token stupid sales guy" people...) i found myself on the chopping block this afternoon as well
yea, so i guess i got my weekends back! (though no steady income is a little iffy :? )
so who wants led and/or wiring/audio/lighting work done???
(damn... i need to find myself a way to sneak back there sometime to access TIS when i need it... rawrr.....)
we'll miss ya Dave..

I will miss Dave quite a bit! If it was not for him, I would not be in a working tC right now
Thank you Dave for all you have done, and I shall come visit you down the street at toyota sometime!

Man I just read this thread... being away in Minnesota sucks and to hear this makes me miss home that much more... so where is Dave at now?
I'mma miss the shop so much! =(

Hey all! Yeah, it has a funny smell to some of this...
So, let's apply some logic to an otherwise odd situation.
Not enough business to keep about 20 guys busy all day at Toyota.
Lots of middle and higher management types with large salary incomes.
Ok. Let's lay off about 15 people through-out service. Approx 9 techs.
Hmm... let's see here, lay off 3 techs or 1 middle manager? Save the same amount.
Oh, I know, let's close down Scion service and parts, and bring Dave to Toyota!
Dave costs us X no matter where he is. The building he was working out of
cost us the same in rent whether we use it or not. Oh yeah man! That will save us a
bundle of money! lol
Now Toyota can't even keep 12 guys busy all day. What does that say about the customers??
They're not coming back for paid labor! Is this the mechanic's fault? .......No.
Is this the service advisor's fault? ....No. Just following the procedures laid
before them to work with. Consumers are looking for a better deal!
Why doesn't the big guy see that his high dollar managers are just there to make
themselves look good, and continue with their nice paydays?
Because they know how to make themselves look good and how to pass the buck.
Who's duty is it at any company to get customers in, and retain them?
The high level managers.
To be continued.....?? Logic sucks

That is so true, and it is always sad when those who are "lower" on the food chain get cut, when it would be more beneficial if some of those who are "higher" up got cut (or at least a pay cut).
It is a huge loss to the scion community. Whats even worse is that those who are loyal, and have paid for services/parts through the stevens creek toyota and scion, are going to be driven away (and we all know I have paid a decent amount).
I am sure that it will be much more difficult for any of us to visit, but if I am in the area, I would love to hang out and get lunch with you.
