Default SORRY Stylis!! and to let everyone else know..

due to some up techies at IB... (who should be shot and at least have profusely apologized to the moderators and supers of the forum..) things got deleted instead of other actions that should've been done..

and a few accounts went "KAPOOF"

well.. one of those accounts was well.. Gabe... sorry dude... believe me.. plenty of people are yelling behind the SL curtains.

there's no way to recover unfortunately unless the entire forum gets rolled back... meaning the SL loses EVERYTHING that was posted after the screwup..

*sigh*...

just in case people were wondering...

Everything he wrote is still here, but is shown as being posted by "guest" and the profile and all tracking - everything in his profile is gone and unrecoverable.

Gabe is one of five members that this happened to, and all are in the same fix.

Internet Brands in El Segundo has no doubt we are angry with them, but the mistake there already happened, and there is no recovery.

There is also no excuse.

yea.. the account and his login are gone.. but his posts are still around.. you just really won't know they're his or not with that "guest" title...

and he won't be able to recover those posts if he registers again.

yea.. i was just thinking that too.. first his car.. and now this.... just.. NOT cool..

Oh, 1 in 11,586... Gabe, I think it's time to buy a lottery ticket. My best wishes are with you, buena suerte!

Oh wow! ....that completely sucks.
So were the ones responsible for the screw up just not manning up to their error?
I know how completely bummed I would be if one of those peeps affected had been me.

Hi - this is Adrian here from Internet Brands.

I would like to apologize to Gabe (and to the community) for our mistake in the deletion of your profile.
It was not our intention to delete his profile, unfortunately a mistake was made here, and as mentioned his posts will now display as "guest" as well as his profile being lost as well.

Again, sorry Gabe - and sorry to the rest of you guys and girls,

Adrian

Your apology is appreciated Adrian, but it shocks me that a site advertiser with literally thousands of posts over years of membership could be so easily deleted... are you guys affiliated with the U.S. government?

haha - no, we are not!

Unfortunately when you have admin access its relatively easy to delete something such as that, and it is the responsibility of our employee's to be very careful when utilizing the admin side of the site.
Sadly in this instance, the person who did this did not follow the correct procedure with regards to what should be done, and it resulted in this.

Again - sorry, we spent a large portion of our day trying to to redeem the data, and our attempts in trying to merge the database were unsuccessful

Thank you Adrian for coming here to post up.. it takes alot to step up and man up for the errors that were made

though granted you alone didn't do the error, but apologizing on the behalf of.. works at least for me

i'm sure you will take care of the techs and prevent such things from happening again.

Thank you for stepping in and stepping up, Adrian.

I assume you will be working with the folks directly affected to at least re-establish their IDs if they wish to start over, either that or refer them to me so I can get them started and set them up for full membership so they can again post in all areas.

To make affiliations more clear I just put all the IB folks (that I know of) into an IB group so that when any of them post it should show where they are from.

I assume the site isn't backed up daily? All you had to do was revert the database to the day or two prior.

New members wouldn't be here, but Stylis' would be....which he's been around since day 1. = More important especially with the other 4 people.

The problem with reverting to a backup completely is that not only would you lose any new accounts that signed up, but all the posts that were done since the backup.

I'm aware of how it works; the longer time goes by...the more it doesn't make sense.

By this point, it's probably not worth their effort or it would have been done by now.
