Default What is a good Down Payment on a tC? Yours?

As some of you may know, March is my time. I am saving up for a down payment. Currently I got 6 G's saved up. Should I invest all of it into the down payment or save $2,000 and just buy the Ped Spoiler and Ground Effects Kit from the dealer? So I'll just do a down payment of $4,000. I don't really want to finace the Ped Spoiler and the Ground Effects Kit.

Some members that I've spoken to have made $8,000 - $9,000 down payments. So thanks for any input.

BTW, what is a good Security System? I learned not to get the Scion Sec System. Will $400 get me a good Sec System?

Did you finance the ground effects kit along with your car?

No downpayment. Unless you have at least half up front. 4,000 dollars down will basically pay for the licensing and taxes in california for purchasing a car. And basically will save yah about 40 bucks a month. If you qualify for financing you qualify. If you are into modifying cars you can use that 4k for something else.

I put 4k down kinda wish i didn't :S

I recommend pay cash all the way. So what I did is paided 10K in cash and had my parents the rest of the 9k.. Then after that I paid my parents monthly back the cash LOL.

My only option we paided for is the floor mats. The Scion Security System was free since the dealer felt bad that I had to wait more than a month for the darn car.

Hey there almost no interest.

I really think that it depends on what, if any, options you might want. I put down 10k but I also got like 3k worth of dealer installed options. My payment is 244.00 for 6 more years. I got raped on the finance deal. Can you believe it? After I was raped, the finance guy wanted to cuddle! Not Cool!!!!!

Damn, I would sell that car since it is probably worth more then what you owe and buy something else. YOu really did get screwed. I paid 6500 and i pay 210. The longer you extend your financing option the higher you APR goes up. My APR 5.15% for 5 years. You did get screwed. my 2 cents. do what u want.

as a rule of thumb, a solid down payment is 20% of the total cost. This is what most finance managers and dealerships recomend. Of course, it is always better to pay more if you can.

Yes, I think $4,000 down is good then. I'm saving the extra $2,000 for accessories. I'm not getting the Ground Effects Kit anymore. It costs too much, so if I don't get that I'll have money for other accessories.

I did that with 2 other cars. That is the best way to go if the parents go for it. No interest and more flexible payments. Car payments during college when moneys tight is a little harder. Id pay less during class and more in the off semesters to make up for it.

It'll be cool if my parents would help me but i doubt they'll pay $9,000 or more. My parents would just help me with $1,000 for the down and I don't have to pay them back.

Yeah, I thought about it, but I like the car.
