Default 1st gen sun roof?

hey i remember at the last meet was able to show up at last month, a couple that came by not knowing about the meet. they had a Black xB with a rather large sun roof and said something about it being custom done by the puyalup dealership? it's about... 24" wide and about 36" or 42" long. anyone know about this? was driving around with a freind and she hd mentioned something about how it sucked cause there was no sun roof and it came to mind and i'd like to find out more about it. how long it takes, how much, where to go and all that. anyone know?

I know for a while Bob Bridge Scion was offering this:

http://www.webasto.us/press/en/am_au...oofs_3641.html

Pretty sure they have it installed by Auto Trim as well. Maybe this is the same thing.

i THINK thats it... but it was for the xB instead of the xA. the whole thing was glass too, not covered on any part at all, about 24" wide and about 36-42" long. they said they paid around 7,500 i think... and they also said it was at a dealership that they had the option so it very well could have been bob bridge...

Brad is correct on the info above and Scion of Puyallup was outsourcing the install work to Autotrim Design in Tukwila as do many dealerships in the area. Your best bet world be to contact Autotrim Design directly to get more info. Most dealerships markup the price if you use them and they end up taking your car to Autotrim or another shop anyway.

WOW thats alot less then what i was told by the couple that i saw that had it... like i said they mentioned something about paying around 7-7,500 for thiers but 2,400 sounds ALOT better haha. i'll have to check it out and look at some photos if they have any. i just think it would be really cool to have that. just makes the 1st gen all the more unique in it's self. plus i find it more conveniet to use the sunroof then to use the rear windows as ventelation. i don't know about anyone else but the 1st gen's windows give off some serious chopping to the ears *i have a problem with wind in my face from my own window while driving, bugs the crap out of me so i use the rear windows*.

Thank you I always try and go by suggested MSRP of things makes it less confusing, I know some that are out there that discount the price too but the roof is not as good.

Just to let you know it is a great roof and it opens from both ends, I blieve that they meet in the middle so you can vent both back and front at the same time. I have not had to much chance to mess around with them that much but they are really cool, I have heard that some whistle at high rates of speed, but then I heard the fix is a piece of felt, I think that may have been on some of last years models of the roofs. We have installed alot of them here at this dealership and they look good and no problems with them at all.

this is what it says in my book it does not give exact demensions;

2Large Glass Panels-4.5square fee of glass
4 individual sun sahdes- total control for all passengers
One huge Opening- more fresh air, more light
integrated and self deploying wind deflector
incredible view from front and rear seats
programable 2 position switch
Automatic ignition off auto close
saftey system taht prevents panels from closing on an object
limited lifetime warenty

it is called a 524 Grand view Panoramic Sunroof and is made by webasto-holandia

I will try and get some exact demensions for you and get them to you as soon as possible

@ MoScion - they seem to only have the 524 listed for the xA which may throw people off inclueding my self being it could be slightly diffrent on the xB being it's not curved like the xA. but it does give a good idea of what to expect... full frame of combined viewable aspace being about 32-33inches wide and 51-52 inched long. very Nice!

CoreyAnn wants one for her xB, but we have heard that there may be possible issues installing it on an xB things like it may need extra support because the glass is heavier than the current metal roof. But people have had it done without any issues. Since we own a release series RS 3.0 it is hard for me to let her have one install because I don’t want to see the car get hurt.

it's exactly what i was looking for thanks Vic!

@ MoScion - i really don't think it's going to be a problem as long as the xB isn't being used for sport driving purposes. atleast for my driving habbits, it wouldn't be a problem at all cause i generaly babby it most of the time being it's not ment for anything else really.
