2006 PNW Events, Drives and Meets - What would you like see?
Well, with the New Year upon us, I'd like to take heed as to what the PNW (Idaho, Oregon, Washington and British Columbia) Scion Owners would like to see done and/or changed for the 2006.
We didn't really follow the calender however this year, pending events and drives, will be more closely followed.
As always, the big car shows (BOTI for example) will take first priority then follow down the chain of command.
Here are some of the requests that some made:
Drive down to Portland once every other month to meet up with the Portland Crew.
An example would be.. Drive down to Portland with "pick ups" at specific areas. Depart Southcenter Mall at 9am, Stop at Krispy Kreme in Tacoma to pick up Southend Folks continue down to Vancouver/Portland for Central meeting location. Cruise Portland to a park and/or food joint.
Not sure how many people fancy driving 3 1/2 hours, but I would not mind meeting them, especially at a Carls Jr.
Another would be to have a big together with some of the folks from Idaho within a Central location during the Summer. The locations I can come up with off the top of my head would be Wenatchee, Pasco, Ellensburg, or Yakima. Depending on where the Idaho folks are currently located at, this could fit well within driving distance and being a near equal distance for all to drive.
Spring/Summer outings have been a big one for us. Last year there was a drive to a Drive In in Anacortes that was very successful. I would like to repeat that at least 2-4 times for this year. There are going to be a lot of excellent films coming out and if we have weather such as last year, why not?
Another drive that we never got a chance to really organize would be the group drive to Mt. Rainier and/or Mt. Saint Helens. Justin *Hotbox* and myself did that drive and had an amazing time watching the volcano and see the red glow from the lava.. Riding in the lava to the lava was great. Alittle over 2 hours to drive down there and see the Mountain steaming slightly. There was quite a bit to see and excellent places to pull off and get some scenic photos.
Also, we will be doing some trips to Canada eh. There are some import/hot rod shows up there that are very big and believe that Scion could make an incredible presence in a area with every little known about the cars.
Dustin, Kekai, David and myself will be discussing all of the options on what we can do and what would work best for everybody on keeping it all on the grassroot level.
Keep in mind that the schedule CAN and WILL change depending on what the people *you* want do it. Personally we can have a great lineup but it all comes back to you.
So with that said,
What would you like to see for drives, car shows and other events.
Feel free to contact me via PM if you have any more depth questions that you may have.

Scikotics is looking into putting together a New Owners/Regional Meet/BBQ with Scion of Lake City at some point in the middle of summer. Probably July or August.
GREAT STRIDES 2006 is a huge charity event for the northwest. Too many people on this earth have Cystic Firbrosis (CF) and this is a way to get a lot more research money into their accounts. That happens on May 21st at the Seattle Center. It's a walk-a-thon type event and will have active participation and provisions made possible by Scikotics, Scion of lake City and the Scion Portland Regional offices.
Late April we're in the early planning stages for a fundraiser event to bring more money in for GREAT STRIDES. This is completely preliminary right now and suggestions, ideas, recommendations are welcome!
We've also started looking at a "Goodbye to Summer" BBQ that would happen probably somewhere like Gasworks or Marymoor park or maybe at one of the many parks around Lake Washington in the Kirkland/Juanita area. It'll be a great way to wind down from the summer and consume burnt flesh at the same time.
We can maybe put a show or something attached to it as well. (We have about 8 months advance notice for this one, anything can happen
)
For Scikotics members there is Asylum 2006, a nationwide Scikotics meet that will take place in OKC or Broken Arrow, Oklahoma on June 17th. Gonna do everything I can to muster up a small delegation from the Seattle chapter.
There will of course be the monthly meets... Tacoma/Lake City which are the SE initiated meets and the Northend meet which I've just posted about (3rd Tues of each month) which is Scikotics initiated. ALL OF THE ABOVE are open to ALL.
I think that's it for what we have in the works. Other than that just the regional meets like usual and then the big shows and whatnot.
Gonna be a busy year

Hmm... any chance of riding down with you two if I don't recover from my OK Scikotics Asylum trip by then? I'll pitch in for gas and I don't fart or whine much about if we're there yet or not.
Plus I know I-5 at LEAST until we fork off for Vegas like the back of my hand... :D

Well Macster, I think those are all gret ideas and I fully agree that we need to get more events going & more people to attend them. I am definitely for the BC ones 'cause last I heard they dont' sell our cars up there so I will be attending those shows. As for all the meet & greets, I'm all for them as well. I will make the drive down to OR or to eastern WA for the Idaho people. I think you're off to a good start w/ all the ideas & if I can come up w/ some I certainly will let you know & follow up w/ the ones you have already started..
I'd love to go the a BC show... too bad I have no exterior mods other than the stubby antenna... I'd last all of about 3 minutes there. Maybe 5 if they like my XM mount once I get it finished
Of course, I wouldn't keep them to myself
Another trip that will be a for sure will be a multi-forum drive. Leaving Kirkland at 10am via I-405 to US 2/Stevens Pass. Tour Leavenworth and eat, then head off to some sight seeing along US 97 up Blewett Pass. For those interested. The ending point will be Cle-Elum, however I will be venturing off to the Yakima Canyon and do some swimming *if the current's aren't too strong* I'll be arriving home around 9pm.
Tentitive Date June 24th, 2006 *Subject to change if date falls on show*

I'm about 65% complete on this list, all is left is for me to go over with the rest of the Big 4 at a Starbucks or something..
Again, I still need another reference for confirmed shows. This will make the planning and coordination alot better....
