last night sucked.

coming home at 5, took the long way due to 10 trees blocking the main road.

lost power from 7pm till 1:30am

ducky on ice, apparently the whole town lost power. try to go to work at 8ish to check on the water level because we are in the flood plain (i have pumps and a burm but i have to plug it off and start the pumps), road is blocked by 2 trees.

10pm, try again, go to work have 2 feet, perfect. go home

midnight, go again to work to check, tree in our road, go back to the house, get chainsaw, cut tree out, turns out 5 more trees have come down on the way to the highway. water is still good.

needless to say it was a long night, and trees are everyone 3 fell in our yard, TONS of big sticks hit the xb, no damage that i can tell yet, it just sat there today and im sure it will sit for a few more days till its all cleaned up..

yay.

Power is still out in Bonney Lake/Sumner. But Lakeland (our development) still has power so EVERYONE came from all over to eat, go to Starbucks, go to grocery store, etc...

The Lakeland Town Center looks like it was looted in how much stuff is gone (go into Starbucks and see an empty food case or the grocery store having empty shelves).

Yesterday I was a glutton for punishment though...Mo & I had scheduled a rental truck to take all of the crap in our garage down to storage. That would've been fine but Kelly needed a piece of furniture picked up from Southcenter.

We drove up 167 and right when we hit 84th in Kent it was a huge backup becuase the power on exits were out. We took 212th over to Boeing Speedway (West Valley Hwy). At least in that part of the valley there was power for the lights. When we go to the Mall area, the furniture store was closed (and supposedly powerless) while others nearby were open. We turned around and went back home. The entire roundtrip was over 2 hours for a 20 minute drive.

I think the worst was getting gas yesterday. It took about 45 minutes to an hour just to get to the pumps. And there were people who were just jerks. One couple cut a line and tried to take my pump before the truck behind me who had been waiting so long. Kelly got out and stood in front of their car so that they couldn't do that and the guy was ____ed. She told them she was with the "morality police" and that he needed to wait his turn!

well power came on yesterday at the house around 3:00 and just in the nick of time. My fish tack can usually survive about 12 hours with no power but it was well beyond the limits of that. I lost two of my favorite fish because the tank had gotten to cold and had no water flow in it. I borrowed some power from my next door neighbors just to get the pump running and hte heater in the tank running. Boiled some water and put them in Sealed baggies and floated them in the tank to bring up the temperature, and started putting air into the tank with a turkey baster. I guess it looked amusing because everyone wasa laughing at me. But for the most part was very uneventfull we had trees down every where and no power at the dealership untill almost 7:00 pm, so we closed down around 1:00pm. So took the rest of the day to clean up around the house and recue fish in the fish tank. Kinda of sounds silly and all but I thought to get gas on Thursday night and was very glad for that since the gas stations are a mad house. Went to Costco yesterday to finish up some shoping for the Chrismas party on Sunday, which is still on by the way. and there was almost 500 cars waiting to get gas and they had the police out directing traffic into the station.

Everyone please be careful and I hope the power is back on soon.

I can add to this thread though...

My husband has been doing my route for me while I've been gone. The night of the storm, the power outtage prevented them from printing the papers. He waited in the warehouse until 5am before they decided it just wasn't going to happen. So, I'm fielding phone calls up the ying yang from my customers, while trying to enjoy Miami.

The second night... that'd be this morning's paper, had to be printed down in Tacoma and arrived at the warehouse at 5am. We didn't have any of the other papers... Bulldogs, WSJs and such.

Tonight/tomorrow morning, I haven't a clue. I feel bad for my husband as the Sunday route is huge and we normally split it up. So who knows when the papers will get there (it takes a good 1.5 hours to assemble them by yourself).

As for our house, I guess we didn't even lose power.

I am still hearing reports of people without power here at work and absolutly flabergasted. I guess this one was a bad one. I ordered a genorator on line the other day it will be here by the end of the week. Just had the electrician out to install a back up generator plug for the esentials in the house....i.e..... refrigirator, fish tank,tv and frezzer. I can get by with out anything else even though he did plug the heater fan inot it.

I still hope that everyone is ok and have some lights on by now. It is wierd how some got hit alot harder than others.

I have a co-worker of Mo's who is coming here tonight for warmth, hot meal, & shower after still having no power to stay with us until his power comes on (he's been at home or sleeping in his office at work up till now)...Federal Way along the Browns Point/NE Tacoma penninsula is still out and PSE says don't expect power till Friday at the soonest.

But then the news reports from today...a new windstorm is scheduled to come ashore tomorrow (Wed) evening...

When does Winter officially start again?
