Excited for tomorrows draft? Come on PNW owns the number 1 and 2 spot and no one talks about it?

don't get me wrong, i used to love basketball back in the mid 90's when the sonics were good, and players were somewhat more levelheaded. but now, its just one big free for all, the quality of skills in the nba has gone down drastically, and it's not what it used to be. you see players always getting in trouble with the law. kids look up to these guys! they are sending a horrible message. everyone is in it for the money and fame.

I hope we don't end up with another Sam Bowie over Michael Jordan pick. Blazers blew that one big time. Oden to Portland, Durant to Seattle.

Can hardly wait for the draft! Not only to see who Portland selects with #1, but what Pritchard can pull of with 4 #2's and maybe a trade or two. Would love see either Mike Conley or Aaron Brooks in a Portland uni next year.
SI recently listed the biggest draft busts in NBA history, Portland had the #1 and #2 spots with Larue Martin and Sam Bowie (yes...Martin was a bigger bust). Let's hope Oden doesn't become the 3rd to that list. Whatever happens...the next 5-8 years the games between the Sonics and Blazers will actually mean something again!

I cant tell you how happy I am that Oden is a blazer, its amazing. Now I would love to have Aaron Brooks in Portland next year. He is supposed to go second round so there is a chance that he could come to Portland and it would just make my day all the way if that were to happen.

Weak, Aaron Brooks is playing for Houston. How about the Portland trade for Steve Francis and Channing Fraye? Dan Dickau, Zach Randolph, and Freddie Jones all going to NY.

I think Portland should have gotten more for Zach Randolph, Dan Dickau, and Fred Jones. I just hope that Steve Francis doesn't continue being a ball hog because he was with the Rockets back in the day

I am glad that Portland picked up Oden over Durant. Overall I am pretty happy with the guys that Portland drafted

I still can't believe that Ray Allen was traded to Boston for those three guys. I think that was a bad trade

So was trading Jason Richardson to Charlotte Bobcats for Brandon Wright. I was hoping that Jason would be a Warrior for a while

Not sure why everyone is dissing the Allen trade. It does make a certain amount of sense. Allen is getting up there, although has a few more years of good ball to go, there arent many. We brought in Green who is also supposed to be an amazing player. We opened up cap room to resign Lewis. Brought in Delonte West who I think has a better future than our PG combo. Coming from the a Boston view point, they blew it big time!

The way the draft lottery happened worked well for both sides. Portland needed a dominate force down low. And Seattle needed a player who literally can play anywhere, downlow, at point and take people to the rim with power. Do I personally think Oden is a better player than Durrant? Not at all, but like I said I welcome Durrant to my team! =)

The teams that fell on their faces the hardest, Boston, Lakers, Warriors and Bobcats.

One thing I hope that Portland will do, is control Steve The Franchise Killer Francis. He has done it with every franchise he has been involved with, so I am nervous what will happen. Possibility of buying out his contract? I would welcome that in a heartbeat! Let him go screw up the lakers or something... Wait, I dont think they can be screwed up anymore than what they already are...

/rant

haha, havent been on a while so I had to make it up as much as possible right?

You sure did .

I'm more than sure Francis is going to get bought out, everyone is talking about it. Everyone who thinks we could have gotten more for Randolph seems to fail to realize although he is not looked down upon to the level of Francis, he is still looked down upon. Slow tempo playing doesn't win fans over so hes not really a money making decision. Portland did well with trading him away.

As for the Allen trade, it really wasn't a bad trade. Both Portland and Seattle traded one of their "best" players away but they got way better players. That and Portland has Brandon Roy who people seem to have forgotten about because of the draft. He is still amazing. I love the way Portlands team looks now. Minus Francis who will be bought out either way.

Although he wasnt a fan fav, he performed. 20 and 10 game in and game out is something that Portland really hasnt had for a while. Some game, in which you can sit in a seat and know that you will at least get that out of him. Although you guys finally were able to rid yourselves of the Jailblazer's name with trading him the team may have gone too soft and lose assertiveness to the board.

As for Roy, I will never forget him. I remember a couple parties that I went to up at UW, in which I had a great evening where nate, roy, and brockman all attended. Really great guys! Roy, was by far the most upstanding sports stars I have ever met more than once.

I think the Blazers and Sonics did very well in the draft making some great decisions. With bad choices in the past I think both teams knew they had to take Oden and Durant with all the hype behind these two players. If not, the backlash from fans would be huge! As a Sonic fan this was the first draft in quite sometime that I am pleased with. Ray Allen is good but he only has a few more good years left in his career. Sonics made a great move in getting the 5th pick overall and some decent players from Boston. This will prove to be a great trade in a few years.

Allen has been hurt the last couple of years, Wally will more then make up for the loss of Allen in the shooting department, Francis will be dealt before the season start, I hope. I hope this is the beginning of several years worth of good PNW pro roundball, may be worth going to a game again.
